 Littleton, CO |  Subject: *NSFW* Crash Club/DNF Membership +1 (pic)Reluctant new member here. At the end of the 1st of 2 laps during my oly on 08/09 my wheels got caught in a long rut "hidden" in a white turn lane stripe at 31 mph. At least that's what my Garmin says right before it abruptly drops to 0 mph. Happened right in front of the 1st-aid ladies (awsome) who told me I was the 2nd guy to go down there already. A cop at the intersection put a cone up after I suggested the rut there was very hard to see... Became my 1st DNF as it took quite a while for them to clean out the wounds, I wasn't sure what kind of shape my ride was in, and I cracked my helmet (whew). Turns out the bike looked worse than it was and everything's good - but scratched up. Showers are fine now, but the scrapes are still pretty pressure sensitive (especially the hip). Flipped down suddenly by a railroad track. Broke his hip. He was not a happy man. He's a fantastic cyclist and will likely kick my arse to the day he dies so I'm sure he was cookin. |
