Subject: RE: Ditched the headphones while runningI used to think that headphones were for people who weren't focused on their workout. This was because for me, if I pushed myself even a bit into a faster pace, I couldn't focus at all on the music, and needed to focus on pacing and breathing steadily. Even now, running at faster than conversational for me is a very "active" process, and even if I zone out, it's directly because I'm focusing on the task at hand. Then I found out that Ryan Hall, the fastest US current marathoner, often trains with an ipod. If it's good enough for him, it's definitely good enough for all of us. (I still can't do it, though! ) |
