Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm a total affectianado for a great steakhouse meal. Martinis, wedge salad, steak, creamed spinach a baked potato he size of your head. I love Morton's as chains go, but as for independents; I love St. Elmo's in Indianapolis Lou & Mickeys in San Diego A real dive, but AWESOME food at Zagreb's in Bloomington (Bobby Knight used to hand out there). There's also one in our Marriott called Octagon. Where are your favorites? |

St. Elmo's was for special occasions (I went there for prom). Locally, Jim"s is good. I always order my steak medium rare and tell the waiter that I don't want it to moo but it could if resuscitated! This is the only place where I have gotten EXACTLY what I ordered---the first time!http://www.jimssteakhouse.net/ Mike took me here when I graduated from Bradley University. We ended up going with a very dear friend and her family and Mike paid for all of us (best graduation gift ever!) |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Chicago has a ton of them. Chicago Magazine just had an article with the top 20 steakhouses in the city, so we decided to check out lucky #13 - Mastro's Steakhouse. REALLY good. Looking forward to trying to rest on this list! http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/November-2013/best-steak... |

We have a David Burke's at Foxwoods casino and a Michael Jordan's at Mohegan Sun casino. Both are excellent. I give the advantage to Burke's. |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I've stopped going to Morton's, use to be one of my favorites, but two bad meals in a row was enough for me. Favorites are Ruth Chris's and Don Shula's. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I know it will come as a great surprise, but Texas has several. Del Frisco's was my favorite when I lived in Dallas. Big steaks, served rare, shrimp salad with shrimp that looked like lobsters, a G&T to start it all off with. Good times. |

Zagreb's in Bloomington is very cool. Checkerboard plastic table cloths, booths made of wood; not the walls lined with rich mahogany. But the food is fantastic! http://www.littlezagreb.com/menu.html |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yall got to come on down to Texas. Austin Land and Cattle, Lawry's, The Big Tex, Houstons, The Three Forks, Vince Youngs, Texas Land and Cattle, Pappa Brothers, just many more. A chain were you can founder Fogo Da Chao, Brazillian, very costly but good food. River Walk this time of year in San Antonio has great resteraunts you can sit on the walk with and a blanket, good food, good drink, and listen to some good music. Merry xmas. Austin just got a IN N OUT BURGER. It is constantly packed must be good fast food. I am not willing to stand in line for 45 min. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Locally, I'm a fan of The Prime Rib. When in Chicago, I always make a stop at Gibsons. Although I went to Rosebud in September on someone else's nickle and enjoyed that as well. |

The spinning salad bowl and the cart and carve at the table is great presentation. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Couldn't agree more with you on the love of steaks, meal and all! I also love blue cheese on my steak. Locally, I like Many's Steakhouse and Murray's Steakhouse. Murray's has been a staple since the 1940s and it is awesome. I travel for work and have eaten at some really good steakhouses. III Forks in Dallas, Del Frisco's in Las Vegas, SW Steakhouse at the Wynn in Las Vegas, The Capital Grill has several locations, including Minneapolis. My mouth is watering thinking of the steaks and wine. Wow, sooooooo good.

Ahhh, yes. Indiana's "other" Engineering school. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() This is not a steak house...but they serve, by far, the best steak I've ever had. It's a juicy 16oz ribeye that comes to you sizzling on a platter with hot peppers and onions. The Hard Eight BBQ in Coppell, TX. And it's only $22. I absolutely love that place. Everything is good there. A distant second for me is Ben and Jacks in NYC. Edited by hamiltks10 2013-12-16 10:32 AM |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Lucky to have a few legendary ones to choose from in NYC: --Peter Luger's, which is, hands down, the best steak I've ever eaten. They have a bacon appetizer that's incredible, and the GIANT bowl of schlag (sweetened whipped cream) that they bring with your dessert is as good as the desserts themselves. --Keen's, which dates back to the 1800's is really under-rated. It doesn't get mentioned with Luger's and Smith and Wollensky and Old Homestead and a lot of the other famous old NYC places, but I think it's excellent. --The aforementioned Old Homestead. Outside of NYC, I've had great steaks at Craftsteak in the MGM Grand in Vegas and at Pappas Bros. in Houston. As far as chains go, I'm partial to the Palms and Ruth's Chris, although I had a great meal at the Morton's in Chicago once. My go-to is usually a dozen oysters and a martini to start, then an iceberg wedge salad and either a strip or a bone-in ribeye, depending on how hungry I am. Hash browns and creamed spinach for the table. Dessert is usually cheesecake unless they have some great signature dessert like Luger's pecan pie. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Steak is the one food item that I really believe I can prepare better myself. Buying a great cut of beef isn't rocket science. And if you can't find a perfect potato in Idaho, then you're just weird. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Quiet and out of the way off of Michigan Ave., I like The Saloon (http://saloonsteakhouse.com/) behind the John Hancock tower in Chicago. Went there for the first time back in '99 and have never been disappointed. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() People around here argue about Pat's over Geno's, but I like Phillips at 22nd & Passyunk. |

Sensei ![]() | ![]() Take your pick in Vegas. I don't even go to Ruth Chris or Morton's since there are better non-chain places. STK, Craftsteak, CUT, Strip House... I currently recommend Herbs and Rye. If's off strip and you can go at "happy hour" and get your cut for 50% off. Makes getting that $59 a little easier (more often). PLUS they have some of the best hand crafted vintage cocktails in the valley. SO, take that cab ride and the price of the fair you save on a fantastic steak. Also get the spicy muscles appetizer and Brussels sprouts side dish. Amazing. |

![]() | ![]() Favourite steakhouse chain, by far, is Capital Grille. Easily my least favourite, and I have NO idea why it's so lauded, is Gene & Georgetti. There meat is utterly bland, with almost zero seasoning. |
