What is before the butt crack of dawn?

Onto the trainer for a 60 minute spin. Good spin with good cadence.

Immediately into the shoes and out the door for 30 minutes (4 miles) run. Love me some 97% humidity in the mornings!!!

Have a great day,

Steve

45 mins with the personal trainer this am and if I can muster some will-power, I'll get on the treadmill after work. These strength sessions are really kicking my bootie.

This morning had a 6 mile run work out plan.  Plans sometimes get changed though so I ended up with 4.2 miles.

Later today will be 1800 yds.

I fully expect these 1800 yards to be the exact same time as my last 1800 yards.  I do a 400 yard warm up they 1200 yards of intervals.  I start the next interval at a set time regardless of how long the previous one took.  If I go a little faster I get a little more rest between sets.  If I go a little slow I have to pick up the pace on the next set or I won't get any rest.  I then do a 200 yard cool down.  So there can be a lot of variation with the send out times being fixed they all tend to be pretty close to each other in time.  The last time I was in the pool my goggles were leaking.  That put me 4 minutes behind but other than that everything went like clockwork.

I am an expert at doing swims in the same time. Monday and Wednesday my 1800 yards was exactly the same (31:35--full disclosure; most of it with fins). And right now I am not even really looking at my watch except to note total swim time at the end, so it's not deliberate at all. Several times I've swum within a few seconds of my split at the same race two years in a row. I guess I am nothing if not consistent, even now in my state of hideous, lopsided, fin-dependent swimming. I actually can swim 50 yards or so without them, and probably swim further than 1800, but sticking to half hour-ish sessions and fins until my stroke feels more normal and comfortable. Just trying to slowly increase the proportion of freestyle (right now it is 1000 yards; the rest is breaststroke and dolphin kick) and length of each swim interval. Pulling down at nearly full extension is the hardest movement to do with a messed-up elbow, and freestyle consists of an awful lot of that.

One hour trainer ride today with some high Z3 intervals. As I suspected, I am in pretty sucky shape for anything above about 80%. Just haven't gone there since February. Ugh.

3.5 miles on the treadmill.

Miles 0-2: easy
Miles 2-3.25: just about 5k race pace
0.25 mile cool down.

85 degrees in the pain cave. Definitely got my sweat on.
