I've been thinking about doing the Monday night racing at Portland International Raceway. (Monday is amateur bike racing night). I don't think it's really a time trial, but they do mid-race points sprints, and there's prizes etc. I'm still fairly ignorant about the specifics, but it's with the bike, and that's all good. The season starts soon, so I guess I better get it figured out.

I will be.  I have been taking an introduction to bike racing clinic (along with Kathy G).  'Graduation' is a local criterion on May 4th.  Meanwhile there are weekly time trials starting tonight....I am waiting until after graduation to go to my first - but I figure it will also be a way for me to start getting used to my TT bike - and even go aero!

Just ladies? What are you, sexist? Or are you looking specific for cycling panties experience?

KathyG has done a bunch of 'em. If you posted this in TT she would respond.

But she likes the comfort of COJ Bear!!  Why try to get her out of here to get more appropriate responses??  It is hard to break someone out of (bad) habits .....

Yes lots.

I like to chase rather than be chased.

The TT I did the best at I started with people in my category. Othertimes, it was just sign up for a time, or first come first to go, or random or something. When I have cat 1/2 men behind me and in front of me, it isn't very motivating.

Not a lady (unless you count how the TT's make me cry like a little girl)...

I've done so many I can't even count them. TT stages in stage races, weekly 10-mile TT, season opener, late-season re-test... Got a few USCF district medals (both 40K and uphill TT's). It's a matter of pain management. Treading that line between not quite hard enough, and almost blowing up.

Whadda ya wanna know?

Most of the TTs I've done are an out and back, both flat and hilly. There is also a biweekly 10k TT and that one is a loop. It's fun to do because you can try to improve your time each week.

I've done 'em with aero bars and without riding in the drops. Definitely a better time with the aero bars. I've also used by friends TT helmet once and that really helped. Not only was it more aero, but I think the point helped me hold me head in the right position and not look down too much.

Have fun.

whao!!!... you've come down to the dungeon, welcomeYell  I only avoided TT because I would get a boat load of responses that I could not interpret... you know, I'm just a weenie one time sprint tri girl.  Not to mention I'm used to the peeps on COJ... I know I can get some real training answers out of them if I really try.

You should come down more often... I know it's dark, but if you turn the lights on, it's cool as to what you'll see

I have done many 15k and 30k TT's...out and back and loops.  The important thing is to pace yourself to avoid blowing up, which isn't pretty
