And Grevers gives the US a good chance to get two medals in this one, too.  So far so good for the Americans tonight.

I'll add that Natalie Coughlin is VERY easy on the eyes.

I was getting outnumbered here.

That Park Tae Hwan guy?  bet he'd be that National hero.

Let's give some credits to Vandekaay, too.

I keep getting him confused with Vandelay, the fake name from Seinfeld.

it was so great last night to see Piersol gain the lead on the second 50 and walk through it.

I've loved Aaron Piersol ever since I saw him set the WR in backstroke. He's amazingly laid-back. A California dude whose been criticized for this "lack of intensity..." but you don't have to have to be intense when you can flip the switch and just DESTROY your competitors. And that's what Piersol did last night. It was so beautiful. His first 50 were like floating yet he kept up with the field and it looked for a split second that Korean guy was going to win. And then Piersol flipped the freakin' switch and it was all over. He won by a freakin' elbow length. He was all alone. Woo hoo. And the Americans go 1 2 with Matt Grevers aka G-man hitting the wall second. And yes ladies Grevers is a hottie. Smokin'. The dude's 6'8 with a wing span of 6'11 holy cow that's a lot of man.

GO USA!

Yeah, I like him, and several others from the neck down. Not so much with the faces on all of them, but I mean, they're just pieces of meat to be ogled anyway, right?

Agreed!

I love love watching the swimming!  Piersol was amazing last night.  After watching him the first few rounds it's incredible to watch how these guys and girls just flip the switch to speed.

I can't wait to watch Eric Shanteau in the 200m breaststroke finals.  It's not till Thursday, but he placed 2nd in his heat(heat 6 of 7) in the heats this morning.  He's from here in Atlanta and found out he has testicular cancer right after Trials this year.  I hope we hear more of his story in the coming days.

I know Phelps kicks some serious a$$ in the pool, but we have to give the other boys of the 4 x 200 relay credit where it's due. They could have lost Phelps' 2-body-length lead, but they sure as heck didn't! Lochte and Vanderkaay are definitely amazingly kick-a$$ swimmers, and the new guy didn't do too poorly either!

And I wish during the medal ceremony that they would give as much "face time" for the other dudes. Phelps wasn't the only one who won the gold.

I am curious to know, though, what Lochte was saying to Phelps to make him laugh

Here's a question- who, on the American team would be the dominator if Phelps was not around? Just asking - I don't have any opinions since I don't know enough about the other guys.

i don't think there would be one, right?  seems like a lot of the guys don't cross over too much with the same success.  piersol would probably be a close one b/c he dominates his event.  i think graevers has the potential, but isn't there yet.  i don't know though...
