Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I like the 'naked' ads they run......but it's always a bit disappointing when PETA holds a rally/protest and the only ones that get naked are the pasty vegan chics. Now THAT is not good press. |

Now THAT is not good press. Haha, I have a friend who's vegan and fair-skinned, but she's also really hot. Though she doesn't protest - too bad for you Eh, PETA folks are kinda wacked. I'm not too shocked by this suggestion, gross as it is. But besides being gross, it's also incredibly impractical. The cost of ice cream would like triple or something, since cows make a TON more milk than humans. And the article already addressed how it would be acquired - would the women be compensated, etc. I feel like that would raise too many other ethical issues. They'd better just stick to soy ice cream, which actually isn't that bad. (Soy yogurt, on the other hand, is kind gross) |

Member![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Coconut milk ice cream is yum. Soy ice cream, not so much. I read an article recently about somewhere (I think it was in Europe) where a store is actually selling breast milk for adult consumption. Yeah, I don't think so. |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Actually, I take PETA very seriously, as long as you're talking about People Eating Tasty Animals. Otherwise, they are a serious joke, but still a domestic terrorist group, but that's a different thread. As for using mother's milk in B&J's ice cream; my wife is looking for work from home till our baby gets older.......... All this is for humor only, but just goes to show how moronic and out of touch these people can be. Doug |

PETA... nice one. -B Not that I agree with PETA in any way whatsoever, but isn't that their point? If we're not willing to treat humans like cows, why would we treat cows like cows? Normal people would answer "because they're cows!" but PETA would say "They are living beings who should not be used to feed humans." Glad I got the devil's advocate out of my system (for the next 5 minutes). |

IF they weren't milked, then they'd get overly full and it hurts the udder. Anyway I dye grass. Anyway. If we do go through with this, can we milk The Bear? |

Member![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm not sure if this was the article I read recently, I was thinking somewhere in Amsterdam they were selling breast milk but in Switzerland, they are cooking with it. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/2976181/Swiss-restaurant-to-serve-meals-cooked-with-human-breast-milk.html |

IF they weren't milked, then they'd get overly full and it hurts the udder. Not only that, but if we didn't use cattle for meat and milk, cattle would cease to exist. Certain animals need human help to survive as a species just as we need them. Obviously, I'm for humane treatment of stock animals, but they should certainly still be used in my book. The thing that always pisses me off about PETA ad campaigns is how sexist they are. 'Don't milk cows, treat women like cows instead.' Or 'Women should be naked and sexually prova rather than wear fur.' off, PETA. |

Glad I got the devil's advocate out of my system (for the next 5 minutes). The more I think about it, the more I think that's exactly their point. They are not really suggesting using human breast milk, they are trying to get people to THINK about it. And as for other countries selling human breast milk for cooking, and everyone's EWWW reaction... exactly how is that different than consuming cow's breast milk? In fact, wouldn't it be more natural? Obviously, PETA's tactics are whack. But more times than not, the actual message makes sense (to me). |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I just saw a news story that in China right now due to tainted formula supplies women who have given up children under the 1 child policy are now lactating so they are becoming wet nurses finding a source of income that wasn't available before. |

Normal people would answer "because they're cows!" but PETA would say "They are living beings who should not be used to feed humans." Glad I got the devil's advocate out of my system (for the next 5 minutes). My daughter's horse once had some sort of infection that (seriously) required her to milk it a couple of times a day. If I offered you ice cream made with horse milk (or raccoon, or dog, or monkey, or insert mammallian species of choice), most people would still say EWWWW. Even somewhat more "normal" sources of milk like goat and sheep are not well accepted here except by some cheese fans. I think it has less to do with saying human milk is gross than what is seen as "normal". The other issue raised obviously has to do with volume. No woman is going to be producing as much milk as a cow, even if given the hormone treatments some cows are given. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() There's nowhere near enough fat in human breast milk to make a good creamy ice cream anyway. It would end up more like an ice milk - blech. |

Right, that's kind of why it'd be gross. Breast milk is nothing like cow milk! Cow milk is creamy and fatty when it comes out of the cow. Breast milk, not so much - it's kinda thin and smells odd (though, I suppose cow milk does too when it comes out of the cow). I dunno. I've changed WAY too many infant diapers and cleaned up way too much spit up to find it even remotely appealing. |

I am SO using that defense to cheer up my wife if she every states she feels like a cow, while pregnant. *then ducks* |
