Expert 1170![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Southern Pines, NC | Subject: Any recommendations for a running stroller? So we're registering for a baby shower, and my sole job in this process is to register for the best running stroller we can find. It seems that BOB and Baby Jogger are the big 2 brands out there, but I have a harder time finding reviews from actual athletes. Any comments on a good stroller would be great! |

Master 1411![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lexington, KY | Subject: RE: Any recommendations for a running stroller?I don't know much about BOB, but can highly recommend Baby Jogger. My wife is a lifelong runner that runs 40+/wk. She has the single passenger Baby Jogger with 20" wheels (the bigger wheels are worth the extra cost). She used it daily (~6 miles running plus 2-3 miles walking) for about two years with our first child and loved it (as did our son!). We bought a two passenger Baby Jogger after our second son was born, and my wife used it a similar amount for three years. Very happy with it also. Both joggers are still in great shape. Baby Jogger has also been easy to deal with. One of the wheels on the double got bent. We called them up and they quickly sent us a replacement wheel with no questions asked (was still under warranty). One last comment. She fell while running with the single once and the jogger flipped completely over and came to rest upside down. Our 6 mo old inside was held snuggly in place by the 5 pt harness and was unharmed. Master 2638![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: Any recommendations for a running stroller? My husband bought us a BOB when my oldest child was a few months old. That stroller went in my car, to the park and around town on a daily basis. It has lasted through the second child with no problems. I highly recommend the BOB. While my buddies had to rig their running strollers to try to keep the sun out of their baby's eyes, my BOB's shade simply folded down. It also works well to keep rain and wind off. A breeze to run with. |

Master 1655![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() NJ | Subject: RE: Any recommendations for a running stroller? We've got a double Q series from baby jogger. I love it b/c it folds up quickly and fits into the back of our Ford Escape w/ some room to spare. No taking off tires or wrestling w/ it. I would like better compartments though. It just has 1 big pouch in back of each seat but my keys, cell, etc. get bounced all to the bottom w/ all the other junk. No convenient sippy cup storage or anything and it's a bit wider than some other double models which means I can't fit through store doors. It's a bit hard to turn sharp corners but I can still run with 70+ lbs. of girls in there... |

I've been using mine since my first kid was 12 weeks old, she's now 4 and still loves to ride while I run. My wife and I run together using the two BOB's and our 3 kids love it. I'm also a stay-at-home dad so I know for a fact that these strollers can be used in everyday activities as well as running. These things are awesome. PM me if you have any direct questions. |

Master 1325![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lake Oswego, OR | Subject: RE: Any recommendations for a running stroller?I have used the Joggeroo 16 by Baby Jogger. It is collapsible. If you like to travel with one and have limited space this is a great choice. If you use it for running from home I think there are better ones to choose from. I have pictures on this web page if you simply want to see what one looks like. I am selling it. http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/bab/883078250.html

Extreme Veteran 582![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Denver, CO | Subject: RE: Any recommendations for a running stroller?I'm another vote for a BOB. I have the BOB double stroller and LOVE it!!!! I have a 3yr. old and a 16mo. old and I run with them probably two times a week. I can push that thing so easily and effortlessly, and turning it is a cinch. All you have to do is apply gentle pressure in the direction you want to go and voila...it turns! It folds down really easily and it's not even that heavy. My boys are really comfortable in it and I love the storage underneath and behind the seats. Another thing I really like about it is the seperate canopy sunshades. With a 3yr. old and 16mo. old, it's important that they have their own space...otherwise they'd be at each other all the time! Like I said, I LOVE IT! |

Extreme Veteran 326![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Zephyrhills, FL | Subject: RE: Any recommendations for a running stroller?drpete, i work at an active lifestyle store and we sell the BOB strollers, and they are unreal. very easy to handle, a good brake, very maneuverable, easily compactable, and they have a little knob to turn should the stroller allignment stray which corrects it immediately. the only downside is cost, they are pricey. hope that helps |

Expert 1170![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Southern Pines, NC | Subject: RE: Any recommendations for a running stroller?Well, after much (OK, at least some) deliberation, I think I'm leaning toward the BOB Ironman. A little disappointed that it doesn't have 20" wheels, but it seems to fold down a bit smaller. I'm sure I'll waffle a little more, but hey. |

I saw one yesterday and the lady at the store was going on how they come with everything where as the Bob you have to buy all of the accessories like the sun screen, rain flap thingy, carrying bag etc. The Valco also looks a lot nicer, the Bob looks seriously industrial, not very comfy. Anyways, so anyone have a Valco? |

I can use my BOB on the beach with no problems and i've yet to see another runner hitting the beach pushing a stroller. Also, looks can be deceiving, my kids sleep like rocks in the BOB while running, walking, or even standing still. |

Hey thanks, how about with an infant, did you use it when they were and infant, do you need another attachment? |

Big bonus is that if you by the single you can still add a seat in the future without buying a whole new stroller. |

My daughter is still small enough that I use it when need be. x2 on the InStep. We had a 10K single, a double AND a bike trailer. All were superior design, lightweight, strong and lasted many years with no problems. I bought them all on eBay for half the retail price. The double stroller which I bought for about a hundred, we actually just resold for $25 after 4 years of use. Not bad. I would recommend InStep above and beyond most anything else.

Extreme Veteran 510![]() Louisville KY | Subject: RE: Any recommendations for a running stroller?A little off topic, but I ran a half mary yesterday running along at my usual 10min. mile pace. I start seeing the leaders run by on the out and back you know flying by at 6+ min. mile pace. The 3rd place guy at about the 10 mile mark screams by with a single running stroller. I could not believe it, granted this is only my second race he was flying. How common is it to see this, it was a fairly good size local race about 1500 folks. |
