Bartlett Lake Tri 3/22

I'll be there - doing the OLY.It's a 2 lap swim around the lake (that will be interesting) and I hear the bike and run legs are challenging. Since last season started with a challenging tri (Saguaro Lake), I figured this season should be no different.Are you going to sign up?

I am thinking about it, but not sure that my lack of training in the off season is enough for this challenge.  I want to do a tri before I leave for Virginia, but not sure I can handle this one.  I will have to see next week. 

Ill be there with camera in hand...  unless someone wants to do a relay oly style...

I am in for the Olympic distance.  I am looking forward to the pain. Pain don't hurt. Someone said that.

This one's an azz kicker.  Water so cold you won't see your nutz for weeks, and can you say 13% grade? I thought you could.  And you would think the first mile of the run would be me most painful since its straight up an insane hill, but coming down is worse! OMG my knees about blew up!  But yeah....it's a fun race!! In the past a lot of the people who like to come to Tri Family Racing events to crush the competition stay away from this one because it is actually hard.  So you have a better shot of ending up higher in the rankings, or even taking 1st place in your age group! (It helps to only have 2 people in your AG! )

I am registered for the Oly distance. My friend is lending me a head bonnet for the cold swim. I have never raced a 1500m swim, and from what I hear the bike and run course are tough. This should be an adventure for sure.

I am thinking about this. Can it be done without a wet suit? Or do i need to rent one? I have never swam in one.

I'd wager this would be a nightmare without a wetsuit.

I think If I can get a wet suit and practice before hand I will do this.

Anybody want to ride up there this weekend. Maybe take a dip in the lake too?

Let me find out when we (AZ Tri Club) are swimming at Canyon Lake. Then i'll let you know. I am thinking Saturday though maybe late morning?

I would definatly be in if you guys do decide to go up. I was going up this weekend anyways for a swim. Bike is not that bad if you take Jerry's logic......"Its all down hill from here!"

Hey Chad!! I know crazy huh!!!! Finally getting my fat body up and moving around. I took an EXTRA long holiday season this year. School is going, tough, but almost done!!! You good to go out to the lake on the 22nd?

Sorry guys got in really late. ok 1030.  Andy and I are heading out there leveing the east side @ 730-800 so if anyone is thinking of riding this I hope to see you there.  I check this before I take off PM me if you like maybe we can car poolish... or convoy...

Did anyone go up and get in the water? I am curious of the temperature. I am wanted to get in very soon. I just have to finish up this pesty re-tiling of my house that is taking my weekends up! Let me know!

Water is in the mid 60'ish.  We were out there and saw a lot of people in the water with wetsuits.  I still wouldnt advise swimming without one, but to each his own...

Thanks for the update! I love swimming in my wetsuit anyway!! How did the ride go?

Milton and I rode out there. There were some people up there swimming at the time with wetsuits on. I have swam at Canyon Lake the past two weeks which should be similar and it was not too bad this week. I was comfortable after being in the water for about 1 minute. Last week took about 5 minutes.

Here is what your ride will be like:

The low spot is the lake though so the race will climb right away and will fly in to the finish of the bike leg... only to start with a 8% uphill run.

is that accurate? 2400ft of climbing? Isn't IMAZ around 600?

that should read 1400ft of climbing (I'm still sleepy)
