Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() ok, so I'm trying to eliminate HFCS from my diet... and I need a replacement for gatorade... in the past I used gatorade on the bike and then hammergel on the run. I was always hit or miss with gastro issues on the run. During a race and training I'm normally ok, but after... geez.... it ain't for the faint of heart.... I've used a lot of solid food nutrition during training... and longer races... and I firmly believe that's what led to my downfall during the first half of the run at IMWI last year. So I'm looking to move to an all liquid nutrition... but I'm not a fan of drinking sludge... Infinit looks very interesting to me... and I've emailed them with questions... but I'm curious to hear from folks here who have used it. Do you have separate formulations for the bike and the run? Do you just put it in your fuel belt for the run? How does this work? Stomach upset? Do you get enough calories to go on just the infinit? Does it taste good? |

Sensei ![]() | ![]() I modified their "ironman" formula a bit for my needs. I used it basically for the bike, and then drink what they have on the race course for the run. As for training, I usually just stick to water for runs. I am only out there a couple hours at most, so I feel water is fine. I do use Infinit for longer bike rides. I personally don't like solid food during races. It typically gives me problems. Since I switched to fluids only, I have had no problems. Infinit is desined that one bottle per hour gives you the calories you need based on all the info you give them to design it. I think it tastes just fine. I got the lemon/lime and set the "taste" to medium for fear it could be too sweet. I think I can bump it up some since it's pretty subtle. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I use Infinit with a high sodium Ironman formula. I use it only on the bike and use Power Gel and Gatorade Endurance on my runs. So far for training and racing these work well. I can take in only a small amount of solid food so Infinit is my best bet. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I use it on the bike only. I tried to put it into my fuel belt and it gets to foamy. I do better with HEED and Shot Blocks on the run. It is an awesome product it beats the heck out of Perpetuem. |

As my wife will attest, Infinit may not solve yourpost workout gastro issues... But taking acidophilus after a workout seems to help Infinit is not sludgy, even when concentrated (i.e. 4 or 6 scoops per bottle) I do have a separate bike run formula. The only difference is the run has no protein (which is what causes it to foam). But honestly in the last two races I've switched to whatever it is they have on the course My mix is 320 per serving (2 scoops) so 4 scoops in 640, 6 scoops is 960. I used two 3 hour bottles and one payday in my IM, workedgreat. Taste is fine, but if you concentrate you will probably need to dial the flavor back as it will get too sweet. I have one "click" and I use that for 1, 2 and 3 hour bottles. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My Infinit formula uses the lowest flavor setting, so there is little flavor. There is still some, but it is much, much lighter that anything else in the sports nutrition category. I use the same formula for my bike and run. For the run, I will put together something that resembles a gel and carry that with me in a flask. I grab a cup of water at every aid station and I am good to go. I got rid of my GI issues by switching to Infinit. The only other liquid I will carry on the bike now is water. |

Iron Donkey![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I dialed in on a custom setup this time around to apply a little more cals, electrolytes and flavor for IM Moo this year. I'm an InfinIT supporter and absolutely love the stuff. I started this time to make up a 3 hour bottle (about 4 scoops in a 24 oz water bottle) to help me through. The only thing I don't care for ANY sports drink, and that includes InfinIT, is it's ability to foam and be sticky when it drips onto the bike. But, it beats the "clumpiness" of some other brand. InfinIT still has a decent taste even after riding for 3 hours, unlike some other brand. |

FYI....take the protein out of the formula and your foam issue goes awayUmmm...not necessarily. I have a custom mix that has NO protein at all, and it still foams up every time. The foam does kinda bug me, because it makes me think of soap whenever I see it...and then it's hard to get my brain to not think that it tastes like soap. Weird, I know. |

This is true, its what I use. Although, with IMAZ training starting, I will be trying InfinIT too.. Edited by Freeswimmingfish 2009-06-18 10:24 AM |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Here is a thread from the IM forum a few months ago that addresses a number of questions on Infinit. As stated in the thread, I am a user and I am VERY pleased with it. http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=151337&posts=48&start=1 |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I just ordered the Irondistance formula in Lemon Lime and Orange...I'll let you know how it is ![]() Also, if you use the code ' HEADSWEATS' you get $5 off the order. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() FWIW...from one person with major GI issues to another... I still got the $hits on race day even taking only infinit and clif bloks...had 'em halfway through the bike. Couldn't even stand to LOOK at the infinit I had brought along on the run and ditched it after the first loop. What's your Plan B???? Also, it is hard to get ENOUGH calories via infinit only on the run without drinking sludge. I made a pasty concentrated gel flask that worked for me on several training runs...but you can only get so much in there. So, unless you want to run with a whole water bottle and pick another one up at special needs, I think it's probably a bit unrealistic. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() just got the IM formula in lemon lime and tried it out today on a short ride. Its OK. A bit like perpeteum in taste but less milky and clumpy. The flavor is not as intense at heed and it didn't seem to sour when it was warm. Liquid protein just tastes terrible no matter how its packaged. I think it will be a nice alternative to the GE on the IMKY course. I had major gatorade gut on my HIM last year and was afraid to try to use it on a full IM course. Hopefully Infinit will be a good alternative. I made a bottle over night and kept it in the fridge and used it at 3pm the next day...still tasted fine. Try doing that with heed! |
