Tell me which brand I want and why -- my sweet chocolate lab ate my laces on my running shoes, so I am going to go ahead and try the speed laces I have been debating, now I just need to figure out which ones!

Thanks!

X2 on the Yanks.  Can't go wrong.  I even have them for my daily use shoes.

I am very happy with my Yankz (for both training and racing) but I don't have anything else to compare them to.

I am familiar with Speed Laces and Yankz.  My thoughts:

Speed Laces: Like because you can get non-stretchy lace, so it doesn't have to be done up as tight.  Don't like because you have to screw little pins into the eyelets to thread the lace.  Overall prefer these, although (bummer) you need shoes with eyelets and not loops, which I currently don't have in preferred running shoes.

Yankz:  Cheap and more prolific, threading is a PAIN.  I do not like running in these, I can't get the tension right.  I've tried them several times, and now only use them in my mountain biking bike shoes that had laces.

Good assessment.  Agree completely. I've gone to Speed Laces as they are a LOT more comfortable than Yankz, disperse the tension more evenly than the Yanks. This is after using Yanks for 3-4 years and not being able to get the tension right.

I have Yanks, but it took me forever to get the tension within acceptable limits.  The next pair of running shoes I get will remain "stock" in terms of laces.

Yankz. Took me 20 minutes to put them in correctly...ran 2 half marathons, 5 5k's, 1 10k and did 1 HIM in those shoes...never had to adjust them once.

I used Easy Laces last season and didn't like them much.  Very difficult to loosen them post-run, the laces started fraying little rubber bands.

I just got Yankz so we'll see how those do.  The laces seem much more robust than the Easy Laces.  Seemed ok tension-wise for my speed-work this morning.  They did seem to have lots of tension near the top at first but then it evened out through the lacing as I ran.  I guess that's normal for the elastic-type laces?

My wife picked up some toggles to try out.  $1.50 for a pair - why not?  We'll see how she likes them.  She doesn't like the elasticy laces and prefers her shoes to be super-tight.

Don't know anything about the Speed Laces...will have to look into them.  My current shoes do have regular eyelets so I may try them if I turn sour on the Yankz.

Yanks. It did not take me long at all to lace them up (which some people complained about) and the pressure was actually good once I adjusted them (this is coming from an OCD person).
For the price you can't go wrong.

Like several others, I have been using Yanks successfully.  I had to learn how to lace them up the first time and that took about 20 minutes.  After that, I have been able to lace them in less than 10 minutes.  As far as tightness is concerned, you just have to learn how tight to make them and it actually is probably a little looser than most would normally expect.  You have to leave room for your feet to swell as you run.

I haver yanks and I need to make them looser.. I still have them on my shoes and I got some crazy blisters last run.  They are easy to make too tight, since they look like they're loose in there, but once you put your foot in there, they're tight.

LOCK LACES!

I never realized how bad the Yankz design was until I found these.  Much easier to setup.  Much easier to adjust.  They're just plain better.

I 100% agree on the Lock Laces....

I've never liked tying shoes so I always tie them loose enough to be able to slip off and on with the laces tied. I've used Yankz and they are convenient, but it can be a pain trying to get the proper tension on them. On my latest two pairs of running shoes I just keep them tied and then slip the bows underneath the laces so they don't flop around.

I have my laces perfectly adjusted. I use standard laces already tied. A finger in the back and a quick push slides my feet in. They are always a perfect fit. I do the same for training. I have never had to adjust my shoe in training or a race. On top of that, I have bad feet and must have  lot of support. This does it for me.

I was doing some research and came across these laces from Xtenex.
http://xtenex.com/

There's no plastic part to break during a race and they actually have knots in them that disappear when you pull them tight.  Only $10 and alot of the pros are using them now because the fit is more customizable.

Google Xtenex and Steve Larsen.  He has a good review on them.

GL!

I don't understand the significant difference between these and Yankz?
They are both the same basic design, material, and tention adjustment by looking at the website.  I must be missing something?

I must admit that it did take me 3 or 4 runs to get my yanks adjusted just right for me but they are so evenly tentioned up the shoe and perfect for putting on and off, I love them.  I am all for trying something different like these next time, just curious what you think the difference is between the two designs?

Thanks,
Michael

yanks, you lace upside down..   so it makes it a bit strange to change the tension.

What I just did last night was put the shoes on, unlocked the laced and loosened them up that way, then locked them up.  Not a hard adjustment, still snug around my foot, but before it was very tight (although I did that because my bike socks are ultra thin)

I keep my running shoes tied loose because my feet swell on long runs.  I realized that I could just slip them on and never  bothered with the yankz again.  I adjust my laces on my first long run with a pair of shoes.  When I'm done, I double knot them and that's it.  They never are untied again.

I prefer Easy Laces. Easy (duh :p), wide color variety, not as involved as Yankz, etc.
