OK...I just went through round 5 of 9 for laser treatments.  Most of the hair is gone, but I forgot to ask my laser person a question.  I normally have swims scheduled the night afterwards and I was told to stay out of the pool for 24hrs after the lasering.  This usually turns into a rest day for me.

However, what about going for a bike ride or kick boxing...any rules against that?  I know the chlorine was an issue, but what about just the heat/sweating...any adverse reactions?

I was told NOT to exercise the day of the treatment.....but the day after was fine as long as the area was not red and swollen. I did my long run the day after a treatment with zero issues.

This is funny!  Only because I was told that swimming was okay, but anything that warmed up my skin was not.  I did specifically asked about swimming because I wondered if chlorine was factor, etc.  They said no prob.    After my first laser treatment two summers ago I got too warm by covering up with a blanket and ended up with painful inflammation where the lasered spots were.  You could see each little rectangle perfectly.    So, I have taken this advice and do not work out afterwards.  I try to schedule my appt at noon or later so I can do something in the morning.

I have swam and it's not a problem...  I have found in talking to technicians over the years that most of what they say is along the lines of an old wives tale.  But from experience, I would try to stay cool for the rest of the day, making swimming an excellent choice.  Although the shower afterwards can hurt.  This is just like how they say the treatment hurts more on boney spots, etc.  I find it hurts more in musclely spots (i.e. my calf, which only gets more painful as the summer wears on) yet the area on my shin and around the ankles is fine.

Gosh, I can't wait until I'm done with this...

Oh, and I don't wait necessarily 24 hours.  Next day is fine.

grrrr...FINALLY a nice day to ride and I have to sit it out   I guess I will hang out in the A/C at home tonight and watch tv....what's on tv, since I normally am not home to watch it?

Also, any of y'all have a lingering sting for a few hours after your treatment?  It seems the sting is lasting longer these day.  I really just want to lay around spread eagle instead if sit around in my stuffy work clothes in my stuff office...LOL

Hmmm...I've never even asked....and there wasn't anything about it on the little informational stuff they gave me.

I PREFER not to have to work out afterwards...I mean, the poor "goods" are a little annoyed as it is...the least I can do is not make them sit on a bike seat.  And if there IS any "sun-burned" feeling it's uncomfortable to work out.

But again...I don't think anything specifically prohibits it.

Last time I had a treatment I did a 3 mile open water swim in the ocean before going...apparently that was a bad plan.  The treatment hurt WAY worse than the previous one and the tech was pretty sure it was the salt water.  I won't be doing that again!

Wipeout. Funniest show on television. I regularly can't breath I'm laughing so hard. ;-)
It's fun to make fun of others who fall down and get hurt.

The one thing I do believe from the laser techs:  Boys have a harder time dealing with the pain from the laser treatment.  They get wee little back patch lasered and they are crying.  Don't even think about it, boys, you aren't tough enough.  Only a real woman can put up with lasering.

I only have discomfort later if I warm.  So, I could see stinging in plain old hot weather, getting in the shower, etc.  I'm good if I stay cool.

best description: like someone snapping a rubberband on you - at each point that the laser is shot.

different lasers have different cores: ruby, alexandrite....

I use an alexandrite core laser and do NOT use techs - I do the procedures myself.  I get lots of failures from places like sleek spa....

there is a reason these machines are only sold to physicians....

They're not crying cause it hurts- they're weeping over the loss of their manhood.

^^^^ x2!! Freakin' hilarious!

Uh, but sorry, ain't got nuthin' on lasering. I'm a trim short, not shaved kinda girl. Which, yes, I realize was WAY TMI. But my favorite aficionados of ice cream are pretty happy with it!
