Subject: Blow Darts....really????
I personally hate it when people post horror stories about people getting hit by cars, or dying during a triathlon.... I prefer to be blissfully ignorant.

but...

this is just too crazy/pathetic/insulting/etc.... not to share.

http://www.myfoxphilly.com/dpp/news/local_news/081209_More_Serial_Dart_Attacks_Reported

WILMINGTON, Del. - Delaware State Police now say four people have been attacked randomly with blow darts near Wilmington.

Police in New Castle County said on Wednesday that three victims came forward overnight after reports became public about other assaults.

On Monday night, a 27-year-old woman was riding a bicycle on Route 71 when she was struck in the lower part of her back with a blow dart. She was treated by her primary care doctor.

Two hours later, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a 17-year-old male was riding his bicycle on Route 40 at Wrangle Hill Road when he was struck with a blow dart in the left hand.

Police say the teen needs surgery to repair the hand.

On Tuesday, at approximately 10:40 a.m., a 36-year-old man was riding his bicycle on Route 7 at Ocheltree Lane when he was struck in the leg with a blow dart. (This assault was reported on Tuesday.)

Also on Tuesday, August 11th, at approximately 5:00 p.m., a 29-year-old woman was jogging on Route 7, just north of Route 72, when she was struck in the calf by a blow dart.

Police are looking for one or two suspects driving around in a full size Ford pick up truck, a small white pick up truck, Dark colored pick up truck or a black Mazda 4-door sedan

Bicyclists on Delaware roads admit riding can have its dangers but say these incidents are beyond belief.

"I've had people reach out of cars, hit me. I've been run off the road," cyclist Wayne Buchanan tells Fox 29. "I've had people throw bottles and stuff at me. It happens all the time...It's enough problems with drivers on the road that don't like cyclists in the first place but being ambushed is a little rough."

Anyone with information is asked to call Delaware State Police at (302) 633-5000 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.

Well, that is bizarre to be sure.

Hey Experior,

What do you say...  You and I take a ride up from South Carolina to Wilmington.  Then we'll round up all the pickup trucks and black Mazda's.  We'll find 'em for sure.

Well, only the ones with "one or two people", so we don't have to round up ALL of them.

OK, great, this will help track them down.  They could be in Wilmington or Seattle...or on a road in between the two.  Everybody be on the look out.  We'll get these guys if we work together.

Maybe the suspects (3 or 4) have used different cars for each attack in that way more difficult to be tracked for the police...

Great, all we need are copycat idiots. Sometimes when biking I wish I had a gun. Undecided The pickups have the highest probability of displaying jerk behavior (at least here in North Carolina). Luckily the worst I get is people yelling at me (every bike ride I'm on someone leans out to yell an obscenity at me, and it's not that I'm driving in the middle of the road).

Those are the people who are not good with power I think.

Please direct your attention to the free-sliding loop that attaches the drop holster to the waist belt and note that it is free sliding, allowing the tactical cyclist to rotate the holster 90 degrees to center for ease of maintaining a smooth pedalstroke whilst well-armed:

I bet if everyone from road cycle communities puts a donation into a escrow for a reward to the arrest/conviction, then someone would come forward.  Sounds like teens to me and of course teens tell other teens that were not involved.

Best way to handle this is to run up to them when they are about to blow and tickle them so they inhale.

And you'd get a well-aimed shot off from your bike at the guy who shot a blowdart at you from a moving car how, exactly?

Wouldn't have to be well aimed, just hit the vehicle somewhere. Then the news report could be:

"driving around in a full size Ford pick up truck with a bullet hole in the back, a small white pick up truck with a bullet hole in the back, Dark colored pick up truck with a bullet hole in the back or a black Mazda 4-door sedan with a bullet hole in the back".

So after you're shot by this blowdart, you realize what happened, figure out who it was, and draw, how far away do you think the car/truck will be? This is all while you're shaken and your HR is up from riding... Good luck even hitting the car.

This is different than how we typically shot at people in the military, how?  Wink

Agreed on that part, but the car will be several hundred yards away by the time you have an even semi-aimed shot. And that's assuming that you draw while you're riding.

And I'm still active duty and am good friends with some guys who work on the disassembly side (I'm on the re-assembly side after all--unless protecting myself or a patient). One of them told me once that there are times when it's smart to shoot at stuff and times when it'll just get you in trouble. This situation would be the latter.
