One of my 'friends' sent me this and suggested I do it.  I'm not sure if I'm flattered or offended.  :-)

I believe they started this at NC State. I have had several friends do it and they had a blast, but the doughnuts hurt.

I might do it next year when they hold it.

LOL Will they provide buckets on the second run leg? I wonder what it feels like to run with a dozen doughnuts in your stomach?

I'm with you... I've been told by one of my buddies that I'm doing it with him [whether I like it or not] this fall. I'm a little worried about being able to keep it down myself.

HAHA, awesome, I'm laughing so hard right now just picturing a bunch of people trying to run their normal pace with donuts trying to come back up.

This is on my "races to do" list.  It looks like a lot of fun to me.  They do have a non-competitive group where you don't have to down a dozen donuts.

I did a similar "Donut Derby" a couple of years ago near Allentown.  But it was biking, on a course that was like a big figure "8".  You got so many minutes taken off your time for every donut eaten at the intersecting point of the course (which you hit twice- once going out and once coming in).  It was quite the challenge, but the top two finishers also had the top two donut consumption levels (and no, I wasn't one of them)

My son just started at NC State and he told me about this race there.  I think it is blasphemous.

*****WARNING WARNING WARNING******
PLEASE EVERYONE.... DO NOT EAT THE DONUTS!!!

Don't eat them, don't smell them, don't even look in their direction or they will ban together and jump on you and attach themselves like blood suckers leaching the life out of you...

Ok, Carry on.

Take a look at the results.  There are some FAST people that do this.  Like 5 min mile fast!  I have this race on my calender for next year.

Now...I'm looking at my Calender and see that this one is closer and sooner....

OH DEAR LORD!!!

There is a Krispy Kreme about 2 miles from  my house.  I may just have to create my own "race."

This would be my kind of race!  I should pitch the idea to a Tim Horton's in town... that could be fun

For my birthday a few years ago, I held my own triathlon. I had Krispy Kremes in T1. For every one you ate, you got a time bonus.

Luckily, nobody got sick, but this guy won his age group based on dougnuts eaten.

I'll be doing the one in North Carolina next year.  One of my very good friend's parents live about 20 minutes from NC State, so I can visit, and get a really silly race in.

I did it last year (the NC State one).  It's a lot of fun.

Read my RR if you want some details on the 'carnage'.

Nutritional fact for 1 original glazed  (52 gr) KK donut:

- 200 Kcal (100 from fat), 12 gr of fat (6gr saturated), 22 gr carbs, 2 gr protein, 10gr sugar.

- one dozen = 2,400 kcal, 144 gr fat, 264 gr carbs, 120 gr of sugar, 24 gr protein

- Average optimal kcal intake I need when training 10 hr x week: 2700-2900 kcal (350-380 gr carbs, 70-75gr Fat, 125-140gr protein

I think I'll pass...

Now see, what fun is that?  I mean if *I* ever started doing those calculations every time I went to eat ice cream, Ben and Jerry's would have gone out of business years ago. Sealed
