I have had major cramping issues if the swim is long enough, and my arms feel like lead. Really odd. I stopped doing that. Agree with all the above though. Split em up is best, but just get them in whenever/however. When I have a swim and a run on the same day, I always run FIRST, and then immediately swim after. It just works out better since there is a nice running trail right next to the YMCA I swim at. And since I'm all sweaty from running and would have to shower anyway, I might as well shower at the YMCA and get my swim done right then and there.
