The month of May is National Bike Month; This week is National Bike Week; And tomorrow (Friday, May 20th) is Nationa Ride Your Bike to Work Day.

I'm just curious who is going to participate and ride their bike to work tomorrow. I am!!!

I might. It depends if I go in, as I usually have Friday off (4 day work week) unless its real busy. Plus I would have to work a day shift instead of my normal 3 PM - 1 AM routine.

OK, was that confusing enough? LOL

Thanks for reminding me. I try to do this every year. It's fun. I see lots of cyclists out.

I would like to do this but my wife does not like me to ride with all of the traffic on my route to work. I have only 2 ways of going to work.

Interstate - which I believe is illegal to ride a bike on and way too dangerous
Major City Road- a huge down hill along a busy street that leads to a busy interstection

No way...
I couldn't check any of the options....
I live close enough (10 miles) but I do not ride my bike to work (I may consider if gas prices go over $3 a gallon LOL).
There has been plenty bike accidents around my work area including a death and recently a coworker who got a broken shoulder after he was hit by a car...
Nope, not me....

Hit Not sure. I've been trying to find a way to bike to work that doesn't encompass too much traffic. Where I live there are lots of bike paths (cool) but where I work there's lots of suburban sprawl (booo). I could ride my mountain bike (there's trail) but that takes to freakin' long. So I'm going to try to ride my bike tomorrow and hope I don't get squished. O!

I'd need a little trailer to attach to my bike to load all the equipment I take to school with me.  That would be very scary trying to negotiate the streets I take over to New Rochelle on Friday mornings with a trailer attached to my bike.

I'd love to be able to ride to work, but it just wouldn't work in my case.

I voted "It's going to rain." That might not keep me off the bike, depending on precisely *when* it's going to rain. I need to check the hourly forecast on Accuweather.

If it's a monsoon day, I won't - too much risk of frying the laptop in the rain - but if it's only supposed to be afternoon showers, I may.

35 miles of the 294 expressway outside Chicago, not going to happen. Illegal and dangerous. I wish there was a bike route though.

Checked the weather. Only a 50% chance of showers during the AM ride time, clearing to p/c 25% chance on the PM ride.

Looks like I'm a go, unless something non-weather-related stops me.

We are actually having bike to work week. Today was the first day I was able to ride due to other activities scheduled after work. My trip is 19.2 miles one way, I am going to change my route home so that I get over 40 miles total for the day.

A guy I work with rode 50 miles one way yesterday.

They do a big bike to work day in Denver every June that, for whatever reason, doesn't coincide with national bike to work week (maybe cuz the weather here can be nasty in May? I dunno...).  So I didn't even know there was a bike to work day tomorrow!!

I'm still debating doing the one in June - I would have to ride 35 miles each way which is possible, but the thought of showing up to work in spandex shorts in front of my all-male coworkers gives me the heebie-jeebies.  They do a good job with the event though - free breakfast and lots of other goodies.  They make it fun!!

Have fun all of you that are going to ride to work tomorrow!

I wish I was... I even exhanged emails with a bike mentor to try and get a good route. I drove it, but traffic seemed kinda iffy- especially for the way home. Still trying to make it work to help with gas and training. To those of you participating- HAVE FUN!

I did it! 5 miles and 22 minutes later, I'm safe and sound at work. Thankfully there wasn't much traffic.

Did anyone else ride to work???

1st half of Ride Your Bike To Work Day! 23 miles to work, 21.23 avg 1hr 5min ride. I was only honked at 4 times this morning-not bad for Houston. It was a pretty good ride, I left at 5:45 thinking it would take longer, but I was here in great time. It takes me 50 mins to drive and 1 hr 5 mins to ride....I think that changes things a bit.

YES. I would know that he or she was as serious about his/her own health as he/she was about mine - AND that he/she understood my lifestyle.

In my particular case, I ditched my GP who thought I was nuts for doing a Tri in favor of one that gives me stroke tips (still active former collegiate swimmer/basketball player).

Wuss.

J/K. I skipped out on it too, but because of a time crunch.

I'll hopefully be doing it pretty regularly this summer as well... weather and schedule permitting.
