On a training run the other night, I had an awesome d-bag of person yell, "You run like a girl!" Well a normal guy would be upset with this. I was flattered as I am a little more muscular of a guy and always feel like I clomp along in my runs. I admire the light footed (faster) girls that I see. I thought to myself, finally, I must be starting to get lighter on my feet. Smile

There's a couple of girls that run really early in the morning during the week where a couple of different groups meet for training near where I live and if I could run like them I'd be pumped!  They are easily 1:30 if not 2:00/per mile faster than me.

I've been told that I run like Fred Flintstone.  Upper body just sitting there with legs that spin underneath.  Running like a girl would be a step up.

Ha! I can sympathise with the OP, there is a few girls on one of my regular routes that leave me in the dust. They seem to float over the ground. Then there is one regular runner, I guess she must be in her early 40's that really flies, I have seen her go uphill at a speed that I can never hope to match. Run like a girl? I wish

I'd take it as a complement because it meant i had some sort of form that resembled something other than "clomping along" as you put it. Somehow i see this thread turning towards pace booty, since you run so gracefully and all.

I have a running skirt that says "run like a girl" across the back.  Got it at a run like a girl 8k trail race.

I've had people yell that at me also.  Of course in Panama City Beach, there are plenty of yahoos to entertain you.  I had one guy stop at a red light next to me when I was on the bike, and said from behind I look like a girl.  I'm thinking 1) what kinda girls are you hang'n with, 2) why would you say that to another dude?

Dude. Not cool. *shakes head*

To the OP, that's awesome! Love it that you took the comment the "right" way!

I'd love to be able to run like a girl, but that would mean I was actually running...

I agree, that would be a compliment to me...  I trudge as much as run...  I want to run like the 12 year girl that passed me on the run at my last tri - she was so sweet and encouraging - she told me "Come on, you can do it..."  at least she didn't slap my butt on the way past like my buddy did....

Wow.
This thread degenerated suprisingly quickly.
Anyway, I am going to run tonight with a group of ladies who are very accomplished runners. Multiple IM completions, things like that. If I can run like those girls I would be happy. However, I will likely take up my spot in Offthebackistan.
