| Regular 60 burnaby | Subject: RE: penticton volunteering My wife and I have signed up and I was just able to find a motel in walking distance to Okanagan lake, it was getting dicey as most places are gone and the ones left really up their prices and want a minium 4-5 night stay. We haven`t been contacted yet but we`re really looking forward to that weekend and especially the registration line up monday morning for 2011 (gulp). |

We are staying at a motel in Summerland, that we have stayed at before, it's not ritz, but it's clean, has a kitchen, reasonable price and they only had a 3 night minimum stay requirement. |

| Regular 174 Surrey BC Canada | Subject: RE: penticton volunteering Hi guys looks like I didn't make the volunteer cut this year I will try next year as I want to race in 2012 I think I may volunteer for a race or two next year for more experience like Scotia half and the Desert half. Still doing a couple of runs this year but had a lot of stuff come up this summer still racing the RVM half and the perhaps the James Cunningham seawall race but next year I hope to do a half Iron and be ready. |

I have no idea what their system is like now, but I volunteered in 2003 and although I submitted my application early, I didn't get a response. Finally a week before the race, I phoned them and they didn't have any record of my application, but needed me, for sure. I ended up marshalling the bike course. If it is like any other event, volunteers pull out last minute or don't show up at all, so it is good for the organizers to have extra volunteers. Why don't you give them a call or fire off an email?

Although it may depend on what level of volunteering you would accept. If you you can't secure a volunteer position but really want to be here, I can most likely get you onto a bike aid station. Let me know. |
