Subject: Your Screen Name

I know this has been posted before, but why did you chose your screen name? I'll start.

A few years ago when I was working crime scenes, I worked a case where the first cop at the scene thought he read that the victim had Madcow's Disease. When the Medical Examiner gets to the scene he is freaking out. He didn't want to touch anything or collect anything. I usually don't stress over stuff but now I'm worried but still ignorant about this disease so I just do my job. I get back to the lab and look up Madcow's online. I can't find anything of any value on the subject so still no worries. The next day at the autopsy, the ME is totally freaking out. Now this ME isn't afraid of anything. I have seen him elbows deep in blood and guts, then drink out of his coffee mug or take a picture (grossest thing I've ever seen). So for him to be worried caused me to start to freak. I spent the next week franticly searching for anything on this disease but couldn't. Then I got a call from my Sergeant saying the first officer read his medical papers wrong, that it said he had dimensia "Not consistent with Madcow's". So after that all my coworkers started with the madcow jokes and I would find all sorts of cow stuff on my desk. It stuck ever since.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. What's yours?

My name's Caroline but lots of people mistakenly me CaroLYN. I get real huffy about it, too (so don't try it). So when I was 12, I yelled something obscene to a teacher who had just called me Carolyn. I said something like"!@#$% ! It's LINE! Just LINE!" Luckily she had a good sense of humor, and started referring to me as "Line Just Line", which eventually was shortened to just Line. I still have friends calling me that 12 years later.

Mine is Tri Take Me Away because triathlon takes me away from my life every day for an hour or two and I love it for that. Modeled after "Calgon, take me away". I hate it now, but oh well.

Pretty unoriginal here, too. I'm a mom to three kids...I can never think of anything good when it's time to pick a screen name. I would have been plain old Amy but it was already taken.

My first name is Alanna...my friend's brother thought I was funny and full of crap or bolonga (baloney). So from that point on, I was Alanna Bologna as it sounds soooooooooooooooo much like a lotta bologna. It's better than the other nickname he gave me: Himalanna's because of...well, I'm sure you all can figure that one out.

I graduated from Texas A&M (the Aggies) in 1992.  Once we graduate, we are affectionately referred to as "old ag".  So, since my grad year is '92,  I am OldAg92.  I have had people think I am 92 years old and calling myself old age 92....which just makes me laugh!

I've always liked the song California Dreaming and when I was trying to come up with a Yahoo ID, I wanted something kinda anonymous but cool.  So.. cadreamer.  However, that was taken on Yahoo - so as far as Yahoo is concerned I'm cadreamer88 (1988 being the year I moved to California.)

Found I just generally like the handle, it actually fits pretty well.  I live in CA, if you don't dream then you won't get anywhere.

So, for most boards I'm on, cadreamer.

That's funny, cause this is the first time I realized its OldAg92 not OldAge92.  I thought it meant something like, "I'm not even thinking about being old until I hit 92."

I was an airborne Ranger for 10 years. "RGR" is a commonly used abbreviation for Ranger.  And yes, usually in airports, little old ladies would ask me what national park I worked in.....

Despite popular belief and misconception of changing letters around...G8R= Gator Sax

I attended the greatest school EVER, the University of Florida, had a music scholarship and marched in the band playing the tenor saxophone.  GO GATORS!!

I know...that's not as good as the way Bostic makes it sound!!

Mines a made up word.  Pretty crap really but years ago my girlfriends and I made up the word Splerph not really sure why.   I either register as Melstar or Splerph.  Melstar was taken so Splerph it was.

Mine's a nickname, helping to differentiate me from my Dad (Jr. vs Sr. thing). Not many call me by my birth name, except the federal government and those I owe money. And two spectators standing on the fence at the Lake Placid 1/2 marathon. Besides, who would name their kid "Wallace" anyway?

I'm reminded of Homer Simpson changing his name to Max Power:

"Max Power....hmmm, I like your name."
"Thanks! I got it off a hair dryer!"

My good friend and former roommate, " the worm " gave me the name while swimming at his parents pool many years ago. I think it had to do with my size and grace in the water. Later he named my 1985 LTD the Manatee Express. When a couple of old friends got together to do a relay for our first tri we went by the team name manatee express. Its not the most complementary nickname but its better than worm and it keeps me pushing to get a little skinnier. One day maybe I will become the Barracuda Express.

My mum is from Denmark and growing up I always loved listening to her speak Danish,  especially the sound of my cousin's name - Laerka.  I was going to call my second child Laerka, but alsa she was a he, and became Torben instead.

So I called my bike Laerka. Hence, I am named after my bike.
