I started out in Vocal Performance (coloratura soprano) but I am good but not good enough so I switched to something that would make me a lot of money! The Theory and Practice of Religion Speicalizing in Non Western Cultures. Now there's something that will put food on the table!

I ended up in computers tho, specifically training in fortune 500 law firms. As you can see I use my college level work all the time.. snort. Anyone?

Originally, it would have been Music Education.  After realizing that I didn't want to be an undedicated band director (and after several years of me not being in school), when I got back into school I changed majors to Biology.  Love it.

Now, when I graduate in May (Woo-hoo!  Can't come soon enough!), I'll be qualified for graduate school!

Exercise Physiology, The study of Human Movement and Physical Activity. I wanted to go into corporate fitness but I figured who in the heck is going to listen to a out of shape lard a$$ on fitness? So instead of changing degrees I gutted it out and went into IT Sales and Recruiting. After that I was a Liquor Salesman for a distributor selling wine and liquor to off premise locations. Now I work in a swim shop hoping to purchase the business with 2 years. Yes I finally said it, I sell Speedos.

Started off as a biology major in undergrad, and suffered through classifying bugs into their appropriate kingdom, phylum, etc... then swtiched to Health Sciences with and emphasis in worksite health promotion. Loved my major, had amazing mentors and went on to get my Masters in Public Health (MPH). Now I manage a grant that promotes physical activity in rural Missouri.

Yep, I'm one of those crazy ones that actually works in the field they were educated in. It can happen!

Not for this little black duck. No one is looking for someone who knows the history of world religions. You can't even bring it up in conversation. I still love it tho. Fascinating.

I have a degree in Nuclear Engineering. I actually work in the field I trained for.

A music director once asked why I didn't major in music (flute). I told him that I prefer eating well and living in a nice house. Music makes a great hobby. Now, of course, all my free time is training for my next tri.

I got my BS in Athletic Training, then about 5 minutes after graduation realized the money was awful and so was the job market.

So I went back and got my nursing degree. I now work as an Emergency Dept. RN and love the work, and the flexiblity. It's nice to know now my job skills will always be in demand.

BS in Professional Aeronautics with a minor in Aviation Safety from Embry-Riddle University and am currently about a quarter through my Masters in Aeronautical Science.  My specialty is still undecided but leaning towards Management and Aviation Safety/Human Factors.

I guess I use it being a helicopter pilot in the Army.  My profession actually is what pointed me in the direction of my degrees rather than getting school done first.  I joined the Army becuase I was tired of school and just slowly worked on classes one at a time.  Took me about 8 years to get my BS but I was working full time.  Went right into the Masters program so I wouldn't lose my momentum.

When I was getting ready to graduate HS in 1985....

My mom wanted me to go into the AF.  Not accepted.

I wanted to be like Quincy.  Not accepted.

I wanted to be an EMT like the dudes on on "Emergency!".  See above.

Mom said "pharmacist".  Not interested.  Saw the curriculum, yikes! (in my defense, I was 18 and still in party all the time mode.)

I wanted to be an Xray tech.  Not accepted.

I finally got a liberal arts program, got an AA and now have a medical technology degree and a coding certification.  I work as a Hematology Technologist.  Not exactly rewarding, and depressing at times.  Stressful.  A lot of times I wish I had my own space, my own cubicle, not having to share everything with three different shifts and not having any personal space.

maybe I should of gone the Pharmacy path.

Maybe I should of kept the job at the Commissary.  NOW, that was a fun job.

BA Honours in Political Science with a concentration in Political Theory and a Minor in Law.  I am half way towards my goal as a part-time student.  However, I am retiring in three months so I will be going to university full time to finish my degree.  Hopefully, I will continue on to my Masters but this is a while yet

Physics with an English minor. After starting as an engineering major, I decided I needed something more challenging. *laugh* I don't use the physics, exactly, but the problem solving skills I honed are essential in designing and building software. I'm actually using the science in a project I'm doing with my sweetheart (she was an engineering major). So bizarre to sit at the dining room table calculating moments of inertia and forces of friction again after over a decade away from it. I loved it, though, while I was in school.

BS in mass communication (journalism)  worked on small local newspapers  till I was 25, which was when I decided that my editor was a jerk and the pay sucked for the amount of stress I was under.  Decided that instead of writing about community problems and how they were being solved, I thought I'd rather help solve the problems.

Got an MA in urban and environmental policy at Tufts U.  Worked @ 12 years as a recycling/solid waste professional.  Now I manage water conservation programs for a small, local utility.

I have a BS in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. Right now, I'm working on PhD in Bioinformatics (mix of genetics, computer science, and statsitics). It's in the same vein, but I'm largely a programmer now.
