This is where I grew up that is Mont. St. Hilaire the picture taken from across the Richelieu river where I spent many summers racing war canoe and paddling C1 and C4 (C4 is a Canadian thing). Mont St. Hilaire is a beautiful mountain. It is only about 2000 meters high and is an easy climb with fantastic trails all over it. A large chunk of the mountain is maintained by McGill University which inherited it from the Gault family. If you are ever in the area - especially in the fall - it is a must visit. Just remember to wear layers it gets colder than you might think at the summit. One last thing - on a clear day you can see the summit of Mt. Washington from Mt. St. Hilaire and vice versa.
Here's a picture from a race that's about 1 mile from my house - where I do all my training. And I think that might be Ovetta (infosteward) running in the white shirt
Tania - 2005-08-12 9:35 AM Yeah, like I'm gonna follow that with a picture of the Iowa cornfields.
If it's any consolation, you do get to go to the sweet corn festival this weekend (or was it last), don't you? Maybe you could take a picture of that! It's always good for a few hours of hefty eating (and drinking) followed by a few days of stomach aches.

Honey, I ate enough sweet corn on RAGBRAI to last me the year! At least!
Grodi Jo - 2005-08-12 1:29 PM Okay, I am a former Iowan and I will contribute pictures from our most recent visit - RAGBRRAI I was fortunate to enough to meet Tania and her husband and we had a great time getting to know one another!! During the ride this year, I really came to appreciate the beauty of the state and the quality of life. Second picture is of the Colorado National Monument - about 15 minutes from our house.
