Subject: Meet Flo, my Christmas present!
After my aluminium sora spec'd K2 Escape was totalled in my accident. I've been searching for my replacement bike. I found alot of good 2005 close-out deals at the LBS's but then I happened onto a great deal from ebay. I was taking a gamble b/c it was from a seller with only 27 feedback, albeit 100% positive. It was one of those "guy buys bike for girlfriend, they break up, guy gets bike back but can't use small bike, wants to sell it off. Only 12 miles on bike. Yada, yada , yada."

The bike's MSRP is $2500, so what the heck, I put in a bid of $1500 at the last minute... I won!
S&H for the bike is $45. I got soooo lucky with the price b/c the seller couldn't get the reserve price of $1800 to work. The S&H actually ended up being $130, the seller (great guy) only asked for the original $45, and because he originally listed the bike as having a Dura-Ace RD (typo from LS website) he gave me $40 back so my total cost was...$1505. I got the bike yesterday and it is a spanking brand new bike, no dirt/grease on the chain or cassette! Needless to say I am so stoked on my new baby! Merry Christmas indeed!

2006 Litespeed Firenze 3/2 Titanium size small compact.
Real design carbon fork (although not the cool looking one on the LS website)
Full Ultegra 10 drivetrain
FSA Gossamer (Godsend) compact cranks w/ external BB
FSA RD-88 wheels
Thompson/ITM cockpit
Time ATAC pedals, from the original owner
I switched out the fizik aliante sport saddle with my aireon team (SLR knock-off)

I figure I'd name her Flo b/c Firenze is what Italians refer to the city of Florence. Florence = Flo!

Sweet! Where are the pics? (Nevermind, I just posted before they landed) Whoa! Look at that thing sparkle!

I was wondering if it was Flo, after Aunt Flo who visits the ladies on a monthly basis, and I was sure there was a VERY interesting story to go with that...

Great looking bike and you really got lucky with the seller. With all the scams going on with bikes, you did pretty well.

I'm sorry, but when I read the title of this thread, all I could think about was "my Aunt Flo"...as in that annoying thing that comes to visit once a month.

But it is a HOT bike.

After further review... I'll update her name to FloJo. Hopefully she'll do Florence G. Joyner justice (doping allegations aside).

Did I remember you correctly Bear saying that the only color faster than red is nekked Titanium.

Now if she was a red bike and I named her Flo... that's just nasty.

Not faster, just a lot more comfortable.

Good strategy. This jersey would help as well:

mmm, nice bike.

I got socks that show an endo, and that's about as good as it's gonna get this year.

That's ok, the engine is coming along...

Yeah, EBay can do wonders if you get it right. That is an awesome deal!!

(I bought a Torrelli Countach frame/fork/headset for $225 ...... it retails for over $1000, and then built it up with EBay used and new parts all 105/Ultegra 9-speed for less than $900 total. I upgraded a few parts until it was eventually all Ultegra 9-speed except the wheels. Rode it until I bought the TCR, and then recently sold it on EBay for right around $800. The bummer part is the guy really loved it, rode it the day he got it briefly around the neighborhood, and then it got stolen out of his garage that night. The worst part of it??? He had bought it to replace another bike that was stolen. Bummer ........)

Now that's a guy who should consider relocation. Actually, he got what he deserved for leaving his bike in the garage, of all places. Lucky he wasn't arrested for abandonment.

Um, yeah: who keeps their bike in the garage? What a psycho. I'd sleep with mine under my pillow if I could.

I think it was his first high-end bike. Sucks though. I've had a hybrid stolen from me out of a garage, but my road bikes ALWAYS stay inside toasty and warm.

Do you buy special insurance for your bikes? Or are they covered on your home owners insurance? I am new to this, just dumpped a ton of money on a bike, I need to know my investment is covered.

It's covered if you have homeowners' or renters' insurance, but you'd be better off calling them now and telling them you have something new, highly mobile, and very expensive. Insurance agents like to know things like that. You might get a slight uptick in your premiums but it won't be as much as if you suddenly have to submit a big claim for something you never told them about. They might also have good info about how not to get it stolen, etc.
