Subject: RE: In-lawsMy in-laws from my first marriage were very nice people, but I couldn't tolerate them for more than a couple days. They are born again Christians, which is *totally* fine, but they took to heart the evangelist role in their lives. Every moment of every day is an opportunity for sermon. I am a church-going, Sunday school teaching, Christian woman (although not evangelical, and certainly more liberal than they are ), and I just felt like muzzling them sometimes! I understand they put Christ first in their lives, but could we talk about something else for five minutes??? Please???? Ugh.
And my former MIL was also the very worst housekeeper I have ever seen, no joke. I am nowhere near a neat freak, but let's just say I never slept at their house in the 8 years I was married to her son; we always stayed with my parents instead. When I was first dating my ex, I said something about having to hang the bedsheets on the line or something, and he said "You're supposed to wash bedsheets?" Uh, yeah, occasionally.
My fiance's father passed away last year, unfortunately. His mother is a gem, which is really nice. As someone else said though, the future BIL is another story all together...
