Subject: RE: Rev3 Quassy - Half Rev : Official ThreadDlyon - 2012-01-27 12:55 PM i'm wondering how I am gonna do..its my first half! Try and bike on the North Shore as much as possible. Sadly though there is nothing on Long Island that can simulate this ride. It's roughly 4300 feet of elevation on the Bike, and the Run is a beast too. I highly recommend the Kings Park 15k in March, as that run replicates some of the run course. We will be riding up in Harriman State Park a couple of times (1400 feet climbing per 14-mile loop). And climbing Bear Mountain. There will be a bunch of riders with varying experience. I'll post in this thread when we start riding. I'd also highly recommend riding the Quassy course beforehand. We're gonna do an informal group ride in mid-April. And Target Training Triathlon group holds a pre-ride 2 weeks before the event. The climb from mile 23 to roughly 31 is just brutal cause it's a constant, non-stop climb that just grinds you down. So MAKE CERTAIN you ride very easy until you have that climb behind you. And even after that climb there are a dozen more moderate rollers.
