Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Since this is COJ, I'll whine here. I use to love Desoto Sport tri tops and bottoms. Since 2008, they have been sucking though. First they have these weird tri shorts that look like you have undies on with a V seam that goes from the hips to the crotch- WTH?... and then their tri tops look like you are wearing a bra with these seams that goes under the boobs and up the middle. The other tri shorts they have have this huge colored waist band on them. Odd. But I'll at least wear those. I only buy Desoto tri shorts because they don't have a seam up the crotch (when there is one it can produce super camel toe!)...and they don't put elastic in the legs (so no sausage legs are created). I just looked at their website and 4 years later they are still selling the same crappy designs. When will they get back to being awesome again? |

Last few years I've ordered any of their stuff I have sent it back. They resized women's sizes this year hope they work better. |

I would second that. I know that Desoto used to post on BT occassionally and seemed open to taking feedback. worth contacting them about it just to see? |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I was really happy with the float pad they added to some of the guys shorts. But wait - it's only in the low-cut shorts. The 2010 low cut shorts (Forza Riviera) were basically unwearable. They added an inch up on the waist last year which was better, but I'd still rather have a normal short with the float pad. Sounds like the womens' gear has more issues though. But I agree - write them an email. I've had very quick responses from them, including Emilio himself. |

I've had very quick responses from them, including Emilio himself. Seriously. If I understand correctly, the OP wasn't cheated by DeSoto, wasn't involved in a scam, wasn't treated poorly and hasn't received bad customer service. However, unprovoked, she decides to post this on a triathlon forum for the sole purpose of trashing a good company that is responsive to triathletes, offers excellent customer service and is more accessible (by way of email or phone call to the CEO/founder) than just about any company I know. To the OP, boo freakin' hoo. I think your post is in poor taste and tacky. If you don't like there products, fine. There are plenty of companies out there that would be willing to take your money. To be fair, I really like DeSoto products and have corresponded with Emilio and his staff by email with product questions, but I'm not sponsored by them (but available!) or otherwise affiliated. I'm curious if the OP would appreciate someone coming on a triathlon forum and trashing her coaching services similarly. It's tacky.

She simply pointed out that in her opinion that the company was not making products that she likes. That's customer feedback. Personally I love my DeSoto 400 mile shorts. My favorite bike shorts ever. But she's entitled to her opinion too you know. |

Sure, they are, although it's really non-customer feedback (maybe potential customer feedback). Otherwise, I assume the moderators would have deleted the post. I'm providing my feedback. Like I said, I wonder what the OP would think if someone decided to post an unprovoked negative assessment of her coaching services or webpage.

How would you react if someone came on a forum frequented by your existing and potential customers to bad mouth your products? You come to find out that they aren't a customer that's received unsatisfactory service or products, but just wanted to share an opinion. Sure they can if they want to, but would you feel that such behavior was unwarranted?

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I don't go as far back with them as you do. I will say I love my 400 mile shorts and like my regular tri shorts. After a conversation with Emilio himself after I complained about the lack of pockets in women's tri shorts - ZERO while there are like 5 pockets in the dude shorts. He suggested I try the long distance tri shorts (ONE pocket) which I think are the ones you are talking about. I couldn't justify the price until I got them SUPER cheap from SportsBasement. I HATE them! I mean, they are the worst shorts EVER. I wear a large, my 400 mile shorts are large and I have plenty of room in them maybe could have even gone with a medium. In the long distance tri shorts it takes some effort to get the large on and other than the yoga waist which I really like the rest of the shorts are so incredibly uncomfortable not to mention see through. I figured I'd just wear them on the trainer here at home but after one 30 minute ride last night I don't think so. The rear seams left huge impressions on my rear. I have e-mailed Emilio in the past and even spoken with him on the phone and while I think he is a good guy and working hard to give us a great product I will also say he has already decided certain things and is unwilling to listen to opinion. I told him I'd love to see a woman's suit that zipped up the front like the men's and he told me women don't unzip their suits during a race and I told him we sometimes have to go potty, he said if you have to pee during a race you shouldn't be wearing a one piece. When another BTer complained about the see through LD tri shorts he said 'that's the nature of the fabric' and yet my 400 mile shorts are not see through. When I complained that my husbands 400 mile shorts have 5 pockets and mine have one he said women don't want pockets on their thighs because it makes them look fat. Maybe he did get this feedback at some point but I don't know anybody who feels that way. Not like we are cramming all kinds of stuff in there and we are already in spandex the thigh size secret is out! LOL I hope some day a company will start making cute and functional tri clothes for women rather than men's clothes in different colors with shelf bras that can barely support an A cup. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I did contact the company with an email! Remember when the Desoto rep was asking for feedback on here? Well I sent a super long email with all my above statements and my email was never responded to. Yeah, I miss the good 'ol days when I was able to buy their tri tops. I would like to state that I still buy their tri shorts. While I don't love the huge waist band on them, they still rock because they don't have a seam up the crotch and they do not have elastic around the leg openings. I was just really disappointed last night when I couldn't find anything new and exciting on their website. I'm holding out hope! And I'll probably still buy their tri shorts. So... it's not ALL BAD for the company. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I really recommend that you guys check out Skirt Sports, if you haven't. They make tri clothing FOR women and it's owned by professional triathlete Nicole DeBoom. The sizing doesn't work perfectly for me, but I know lots who love them and they are really made for real women (I think). |

KSH's opinions are valid, whether you agree with the tactics or not. |

I have been happy with everything from Skirt Sports but their sizing is a bit wonky. I actually have one top that is a small (I am a 36D) but I think it's because I wanted a tighter fit to wear as a tri top. I have not tried their bottoms though. Do they have a tri short? I will say I LOVE the 400 mile shorts because they are kind of a tri/cycle hybrid short. Not as bulky as a cycle short but thicker than a tri short. |

So if her opinions are valid, why is her behavior "unwarranted?" Do tell.
