Seriously, what do I do about the crappola that my uber-liberal and uber-conservative friends post?

I like to give the opposite view just to watch their heads spin. But always start with the phrase: "A bit of Devil's Advocate"

I have found the extreme ends (L & R) just can't bring themselves to contemplate the other side might have some merit.

I actually saw a conservative post a picture from think liberal and I agreed with it. It was first Bush was Hilter now Obama is Hitler. Until they kill over 3 million people stop calling people Hitler.

If I saw FB come up on my phone I would put it on the ground and stomp on it.

+1. I had to do this with two friends within the last couple of months. One friend is Ultra Conservative the other is the Ultra Liberal.

I typically respond by pasting in the snopes link debunking the crazy thing they just posted.

I think of it as a precision tactical assault.  In and out with maximum effect and little collateral damage.

When I see them in person, I say, "You know that these sites that you post make the National Enquirer look like a sound source of news?'

It's like religion.  I know what I believe and I'm happy with it and my life.  I rarely let what other people believe impact my life.  Not going to get mad what other people are going to post on facebook or other forms of media.  You know the saying - opinions are like A-holes.  Everyone has one.

You probably know this but Snopes itself was debunked. It is just a dude and his wife who say whatever they feel like saying, no credibility whatsoever.

To OP, what do you do? You post it here for entertainment value of course!

A friend of mine just posted the old college socialism article. To me it ranks up there with blaming Obama for gas being over $3. Since it was always less than that before he got in office.

I do that as well. Not only with the political threads, but with all of the other ridiculous nonsense that people post and share without even taking a second to consider if it makes any sense. Stuff like, "Did you know AAA will drive you home for free on New Year's Eve?" and "Eating honey and cinnamon every day cures cancer!" Drives me bonkers when seemingly intelligent people repeat stuff that makes no objective sense just because someone shared it on Facebook.

The only times I've ever de-friended anyone on FB for political posts is when they post or share articles or posts I consider to be anti-semetic, homophobic, etc. I'm not interested in that kind of person's opinion.
