Well, i will be on this site for this thread only. It will be a good way to keep up with the Mass Mafia and plan the events for the weekend if anyone wants to get together for dinner and whatnot.

A lot of you are facebook friends, but this will also be a way for those not on facebook or are not in my network to chat, discuss race prep etc.

So, let the fun for the next 6 months begin!!!!

RUUUUUU-DDDYYYYYYYYYY!!!! See you there. You going to top the bike split this year?

I'm definitely in and will see you there. Not sure if I'm there the night before or will just come the day of the race.

There will be beer

Rudy, glad you'll be racing this year! This will be the first of my three HIM's this season in my build to the 70.3 WC at Tremblant. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Hope it's a nice cool June day this year for the race!

AHHHHHHH, two of my favorite mass peeps.

Mike, i see you on facebook!!! Yes, there will be beer a plenty. I will be there from Friday till Sunday, same hotel. Duct tape will also be in stock for the weekend!!!

Yes, going for top bike split again, would love to see 2h15m, aging up to 45-49 also, would love to place in AG

Nate, so great to hear you will be racing!!! Looking forward to reconnecting with all you guys!!

I should be 190lbs by race day, which will be 25lbs lighter than 2011 and 2012 as i raced around 210-215 those years. Been running consistently for about 3 months, 4-6 days a week, all short mileage and easy pace. Trying to not get hurt or have lingering injuries, bike power is already almost what it was in 2012 and i have not even started the real work yet. I will start swimming in February, but the swim was never my issue.

Goal remains the same, break 5 hours, i have been close twice, maybe the third time is the charm, we all know that it will be the run that makes or breaks my race.

when it is all said and done, i will write another whale of a race report in typical Rudy fasion, some off and making others laugh.

Either way, i will have my Fastest bike split a thon ready to go for the race. Hopefully this year i can quiet all the naysayers and run healthy and to my potential and have a full 3 part race.

Hoping you break 5, and looking forward to a typically epic (bike) race report followed by a solid run

sweet!!! As it gets closer i will see if we can get a little night before dinner going. I know Mikey will be up for it. Worst case is i will have beer and we can BS and have a brew and talk about the next day in the hotel lobby or something.

In the past we have had GTG's at the Fireside rest which is near the main hotels everyone stays at.

So we will see what happens!!!

Myself as well this year doing the full race. Last year due to a stress fx issue, I could only do the aquabike. I have focused primarily on running gearing up for my first 50K ultra trail run this september, so training for this HIM has been a great addition to getting in some cross-training. No PR, for me...looking to simply finish and have a good day. Would like to better my swim time and bike split of course, but other than that, going in for the experience and fun of it!

Right now the weather is shaping for 80F, light breeze, no rain.
Should be a fun day.

I just had a couple of problems, I could count the number of triathlons I had contested at zero. Secondly, I could count on one hand the number of times I had been swimming in the last 17 years.

This half Ironman plan covers many weeks of challenging, but attainable training for someone who has some endurance experience, and ideally some Olympic distance races within the past season.
