I'd be pretty proud to just say I clocked in a <5min mile. Or chugged 4x beer/lap. Combine both, and not puke?! Bragging rights for life.

That's smokin' fast!

I ran a beer mile last year (just under 9 min)... it's tough to keep it all down.

Impressive performance. We can thank my alma mater for drafting rules for this prestigious event.

http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/04/30/beer-mile-world-record_n_52...

"For a beer mile record to be considered official, it must follow the Kingston Rules, that were originally drafted by runners at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont. in the late 1980s."

One of the cooler athletic achievements I have watched. That guy is a beer drinking, mile running monster.

Chugging four bears at an average of 7-8 seconds is as impressive as running the mile in 4:18.

I'm going to do one at the end of the month!

We should do a BT beer mile scoreboard with male and female titles. Elaine, that is pretty damn good actually!

I know, I totally agree. We have a lot of 4:0X-4:1X guys in our club but shyte, 7 second chugs x 4 is crazy!

Not signing up for that one. Lactic acid plus beer. Felt nauseous just watching him. Anyway not sure I could even do a 6-minute mile anymore, without the beer. The only thing worse would be one of those Krispy Kreme donut runs--I think I'd rather chug the beer!

That was...interesting...I like beer, but I'm not sure I understand what would make a person aim for this goal. He said something about "...because I'm not fast enough to do anything else...." not sure if that was in explanation of why?!? He seemed well prepared and quite in depth in his planning - that's for sure!

In terms of why, I think it's probably like anything for those of us who are not good enough at a sport to be professionals. It's a fun goal to work at that allows us to push the limits, whatever they may be.

He's not fast enough to get the world record in running but he happens to be fast enough at drinking to offset that. Kind of like some triathletes that aren't fast enough to be world class at single sport but are fast enough when you combine the three.

Soon after I got married, I decided I needed to get motivated to work out and focus on getting back into shape. I could barely jog a quarter-mile without needing a walk break.

I think quite truly for the first time I 'get it'. It's not just about the fitness. It's not just about the great little endorphin rush as you hit 5, 10, 15 miles...its not just the medal at the end.
