I knew my sig line would catch up with me at some point...I was on the verge of signing up for the Penn State Dam Triathlon on Spetember 9th. Coincidentally, I had an appointment for a vasectomy consult, and they found a lump in one of my boys. Needless to say, the lump takes priority.

I wanted to post this because I know there are a LOT of young guys on here, healthy guys who can't imagine this kind of thing happening to one of us. It does.

Check yourself once a month. If you feel a lump, or ANYTHING that just isn't right, get it looked at: IMMEDIATELY. Women, encourage your guy to check himself.

I'm just beginning my race, but I'm going in with my head up, my eyes open, and my thoughts on finishing strong. I also wanted to say thank you to everyone here. This is going to be a long race, I suspect. One thing I have learned here is the strength of bravery, and the power in finishing the tough things that are placed before you. I'm going to finish this one...

I'm so very sorry to hear that.

Hang tough, you will find attitude can make a big difference during treatment -- and I say that as a cancer survivor myself. You certainly have a good attitude now, and the fact that you are healthy and used to hard training will pay off for you during this experience.

Sending you hugs.........

Yikes...Sorry to hear the bad news. From the looks of the disease and all the research out there, you should be on a path for a positive prognosis...

BTW...what does DNS and DFL mean?

You will see it when you believe it.  Sounds like you already believe which means seeing it is right around the corner.  The universal law that makes miracles happen and provides healing to those that need it is STILL on the books.  Recognize it and make it yours.  I believe in you!

Fish,

I'm so sorry to hear about your cancer.  I just want you to know and your wife to know that every thing will be fine when you recover.  My ex husband had the same cancer and did chemo and all.  He's fine today and was fine in bed too when we were together.

It's much the same as a women getting a mastectomy, you will have a harder time on yourself then your wife will be.   As a wife I did not mind or care as to whether or not he had one or two.  He did.  If your wife lost a breast to cancer would you love her less?  Chances are...NO.  Luckly you were going  in to get a vasectomy, my ex had this cancer before we had kids and it took way our abilty to have children.  Needless to say he should have had some counceling to deal with it all.  He put to much stock in his "boys"  and decided to drown the rest of his life in drugs and booze insead of rejoycing in the fact that he had been given the gift of life and a wife who still loved him with or without kids.  (I could not live with the booze and drugs that's why we split).

I guess I just want to say that you have to keep postive.  In your low points, lean on others to help carry you...You will make!  Just like Lance!

If Mrs. Fish would like to chat, please feel free to PM me and we can talk.

Wow, that really sucks, Fish but you're going to be healthy and cancer-free before you know it.  Keep your chin up and fight hard.  When you're low, let your friends and family prop you up and help you stay strong.

Off to check myself now...

Have you read Lance's first book? It sounds like you've been diagnosed far sooner than he was. I hope you fare as well. Good luck.

Fish,

My older brother (and hero) had testicular cancer 18 years ago while serving a volunteer mission for his church in Guatamala. He went through two surgeries, chemo and one round of radiation. His hair fell out, he lost a lot of weight and was sick for a long long time. My point is, today, 18 years later he is Fine and cancer FREE! He and his wife have 5 lovely kids, all natural. Modern medicine is amazing and his doctors were top notch.

I wear a liveSTRONG wrist band everyday since they came out and volunteer with the American Cancer Society. Testicular cancer is the #1 cancer of young, non-smoking males in this country and should be taken very seriously by all males. My brother is my hero and if I ever feel like I can't do something I look at my wristband and think of my brother fighting for his life and I know I can accomplish ANYTHING! Good Luck to you and your family, my prayers and thoughts are with you. Do your research, explore all your options and get second and third opinions about everything.

I am very sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It sounds like you have the right attitude though, to take on the battle and win it.

My boss was diagnosed with brain cancer and was given very slim chances of living more than 6 months. He fought back and won. He also attributes his healing to training and competing in triathlons!

You can beat this cancer!
