Nice of that guy to lie on the form about having been in contact with an Ebola patient. When I saw the guy's flight itinerary I had to do a double take, I had flown the same itinerary (the Washington Dulles to Dallas part at least) just 2 days after he did.

Ebola has been here before......this is not W. Africa.   There's not much to worry about.

No offense, but

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'd be more concerned about a case of measles in my kids school.

It's the name!  Just say to yourself, "I've got Ebola"....that's enough to scare the crap out of anyone.  Wikipedia says about 36,000 deaths per year from the flu in the U.S. and most people don't even get vaccinated against it.,.....because it's the flu....the name does not conjur fear.  Say it to yourself, "I've got the flu"....eh, big deal.   I propose they change the name to Lala....it'll just make everyone feel better about the whole deal.

While I have no fear of my family or I contracting Ebola, I do believe the United States needs to be a little more proactive about it.  Apparently, there are over 10,000 people from the 3 major countries with Ebola outbreaks which hold US Visas (many of which might already be in the US and not a factor).  I think, at the very least, the State Department should tighten the restrictions for visitors from those countries.  Given the 70% mortality rate of Ebola in those countries, it is not surprising that those potentially infected would want to be in the US for treatment (and give false information to that end).

I'd like to know what percentage of the people who are completely losing their minds about Ebola also don't bother to get seasonal flu shots. Conservatively, I'd put it at about 99%.

from some of the stuff i've been reading, one of the current screening questions is already, have you been or may have been exposed to ebola - the guy in TX apparently lied on this screening (per some of the reoirts i've seen).

Another issue is flight routing and frequent flyers...someone leaving from one of those African countires could potentially be routed through 4-5 different airports and if symptoms don't present until 10-17 days later...

It doesn't matter.  You are not contagious unless you are symptomatic.   It's really not easy to contract this disease from everything I've been sent (yes, there are all kinds of bulletins flying around to govt. agencies regarding this issue).  We are apparently geearing up for World War E.  LMAO

I guess they didn't send you the 2012 Canadian study where it went from infected pigs to macaques caged separately.

Patient #2 now.  Anybody want to guess where the number of cases in the US sits at the end of the year?  Could just be 2.  Or 20.  Or 200. or ... ???

I guess about .01% of what the flu will end up killing here.

You're probably right.  But I can definitely say that I wouldn't want to be a health care worker providing any sort of treatment to an ebola patient.

I'll take the under.

I thought I heard that in W Africa that 4,000 people had died for Ebola, hell we kill more than that every month just for driving around.

96.5, that would be a good minimum wage, then everyone would be living well! (I'll catch up with you on the other threads soon ))

I think if a town in Liberia can figure it out, then so can we.

Still not worried no matter how many places tell me I should be, including those that should know better in the medical community.
