Master 2802 Minnetonka, Minnesota | Subject: Another one bites the dust... Thread for speculating, discussing and announcing shrinkage of the R nomination field. Breaking news - Lindsey Graham is out! No real surprise, but who's next? I vote for Rand Paul, as he has a Senate campaign to get back to. Thoughts? |

Master 2946 Centennial, CO | Subject: RE: Another one bites the dust... I would be thrilled to see the fields shrink. While it is nice to have a variety of opinions, when we're talking about an 18 month (or more) campaign, There comes a time when it needs to shrink to the candidates that truly have a shot.
So who are your top 5? In no particular order: 1. Trump 2. Cruz 3. Rubio 4. Christie 5. Fiorina Others that are at least fun to listen too: Huckabee Carson Santorum (All three are to religious for me. I hate the religious right, but they are all very smart on certain topics.) |

Cruz is super religious too, fyi. Trump #1 as in he will quit next??? I was hoping for a thread on who in the R field you think will drop out next... Edited by ejshowers 2015-12-21 2:15 PM |

Pro 9391 Omaha, NE | Subject: RE: Another one bites the dust... I'd say pretty much any/all of the undercard debaters but they're essentially out of the race already so I'll just focus on the main stage folks. The one I'd like to see get out the most is Kasich, He's so annoying. As for what will actually happen I suspect that most of the main debate candidates will hold out through Iowa and New Hampshire to see how things go. I'd say it will be down to Trump, Cruz, Rubio, and Bush 30 days after Iowa. Bush is kind of an odd duck because he has enough money to go all the way to the end, so even if he doesn't win a single state I could see him sticking around forever. |

I wanted to jump out the window. I don't even know where he stands on much of anything, he just annoys me so he's out. lol |

Deep in the Heart of Texas | Subject: RE: Another one bites the dust... It's tough to know who will get out next without knowing the particular pressures for each. Graham suspended his campaign when he did because it was the last day to do so without his name getting on the S. Carolina ballot. Since he likes his senate gig, I don't think he wanted to get trounced in the SC primary which would potentially open the door as a target for getting primaried the next time around. I'd have to suspect one of the under card candidates or someone from the main debate stage who gets sent down to the lower tier. Paul is as likely as anyone to be next. |

I don't know if any of y'all watched any Red State Update videos (satirical) back in 2008, but one of came up with the catchyist of catch phrases - "Huckabee, well F... Me" - I can't hear his name without that running through my head. There are current Red State Update videos, but I haven't watched any. With this set of candidates, those videos are probably pretty funny.

Buttercup 14334 | Subject: RE: Another one bites the dust... Jeb would be foolish to drop out before Super Tuesday. Trump/Cruz/Rubio represent a narrow spectrum of voters. Jeb and Kasich represent a more moderate, general election friendly, GOP. If he can outlast Kasich, he will be the only moderate for fringe-weary voters to choose. I'm hoping Kasich gets the nod, but I have no expectation that he will. |

Sadly, I think the "libertarian" movement, not unlike the Tea Party movement, has been co-opted by the far right and has lost its meaning and original purpose. "Libertarian" used to mean that you favor smaller government, less federal oversight, and you generally don't care about social issues that don't directly financially impact the population as a whole (e.g. same-sex-marriage). Today, unfortunately, when I hear that someone's a Libertarian I assume it means they have a lot of guns and don't want to pay any taxes. |

Hey, I resemble that remark. haha I do agree that it's been hijacked by the far right for the most part. |
