Well, working a big job the other day and had the bad luck to be near a small wall that fell and cracked a couple of ribs on my left side. I'm pretty upset that my intense tri- and duathlon training will culminate in no season-ending races. I had several good tri's throughout the summer and a good du, but it looks like I'm on the DL for four to six weeks. Now even the October marathon is pretty questionable.

At least I just finished the Book of Muscle intermediate workout program so I can feel like I completed one goal this summer. What a bummer. I can't even imagine running or swimming with my side the way it is, and I'm pretty depressed about the whole thing. The injury happened over the weekend so this Saturday I'll try getting back on the bike trainer. This would be the first summer without a marathon in about fifteen years.

As far as lifting goes it gonna be a month or two before I get into anything serious. My body's going to go to hell. And I really felt as though I was probably in the best shape of my life as of the morning of the event.

About the only upside is the doc telling me if I wasn't so muscular the injury might have been far worse. Not to mention the fact that the wall could have fallen on my head...some consolation I guess.

So it'll be back to the drawing board in a few weeks. I'm going to feel like a fifty-year-old rookie, which ain't all bad. Adversity begets challenge which begets triumph...hard work ahead.

That DOES suck! But keep in mind what the doc said....your fitness level helped you out. Hopefully that same healthfulness will assist in a speedy recovery too.

Best wishes!

Can you try some light stretching or maybe some light yoga to keep you in the swing of things???

Ohhh, get well soon. Sending those healing vibes your way.... From the Northwest Suburbs to down there in West Chicago... Straight south on Route 59. Can you feel it???

Good Luck. LW
