Boy what a tough one. I went with Emma over Deseree and it was close. Both are smoking hot and incredible athletes.

Chrissie Wellington.

She's a Brit! And to win Kona in your 1st year as a professional is truly outstanding.

Carole Sharpless did a presentation at the Hansgrohe triathlon seminar that I went to last year. She was awesome and keeps going despite setbacks this year. I love to root for her.

Sam McGlone gets my vote - I just feel that she is the next big thing and will carry the torch of great women Canadian triathletes like Bowden, Fuhr, and Bentley. Then again, if we are talking ITU then I might be talking Fernandez, Bennett, and Sweetland (sorry - I had to through in a Canadian).

Chrissie - In addition to amazing Kona win - she hung with us volunteers at 70.3 Clearwater. Very down to earth.

Me too ... she gives a lot to the triathlon community here in Atlanta.  Great person who drives herself (too) hard.

Everyone is putting Ficker because she's "hot" and Wellington because she won Kona.

But to me there is still no substitute for Badmann other than maybe McGlone.  Both are better athletes than either of the two mentioned above.  And Natascha just epitomizes what the sport is about - class and style and pure joy of competing.  Not too mention she is a hell of a fighter/competitor.

Natascha is def a class act, but like anything else in the US...we like eye candy. You make very valid point though as an athlete but there really is no criteria in "favorite."

I went with Natasha, I thought she showed great character at the last Ironman. Plus 6 wins, not to bad.

The category says Favorite not best so I have to go with 2.

1) Michellie Jones - she was really cool to talk to and was just awesome with my little girls when we met her at the tri-expo at Bicycle Village

2) Amanda Lavato - She was uplifting and encouraging on the course at my HIM this year enroute to her win and she showed great fortitude and perseverance to finish IMFL when things were going totally wrong.

Totally agree with comment on Ficker's relative athletic ability, but I think we don't really know just how good of an athlete Wellington is. From what I read in Triathlete, she's only been at this a very short time (and has already won Kona).

x2. For the same reasons, I voted Hillary Biscay ... and I think Hillary is really just coming into her own. She will be scary ... BTW she's also brilliant. Shameless plug for my blog entry with pics:

Tough choice, awesome to watch the rookie Wellington win Kona and I love to watch Desiree for obvious reasons, but I had to go with Natascha, she loves to compete and does it well.
