I see you at the finish line - we'll wave at you from the other side - yeah, we'll be on the side that passes the finish line first!

Oh...are you going to use your East Coast Philly Card and jump over to the Hipster Winning Team??  We would love to have you

Hey, team!

I'm doing my part to keep ahead of Beth the Central team. I think I'm only behind in the swim, and I'm heading to the pool this afternoon.

Have a great holiday weekend!

I'll top 100% on my swim and bike but will have to work to get to 100% on the run. I will work!

I'm behind on the swim as well. I've been sick this week - DAY 4.  But I've gotten all of my other workouts in and will be in tip top shape for biking and running. I will hopefully get the swim caught up on Saturday.

Good morning Hipsters!

I got out for a good 4mi run this morning. Next up for me is a 40mi ride tomorrow and a 4mi race on Monday.

In sad news, gracetheterp has withdrawn from the challenge. Life issues are preventing her from getting her training in and she withdrew rather than staying in and dragging the team down. Please try to send a kind word her way.

I hope that everyone will be out using the long weekend to work towards their goals!

Have a great weekend!

Here are the current standings from the spreadsheets (assuming it's all up to date):

1. Central - 70.13%

2. East - 69.58%

3. West - 61.78%

4. International - 49.91%

We lost our lead, so let's get out there and have great workouts over the long weekend!!

OK, I took one for the team...I fell off my bike at about 6 miles out today - and instead of having hubby come and rescue me, I rode the 6 miles back...bleeding and bruised. YOUCH!

Atleast it's another 12 miles in - although I think I may wait until Monday before I put this body back on a bike.

Sorry to hear about the crash.  Hope things get better soon.  Remember to double up on the red wine liquids and have a safe weekend.

Going to be tough to get my run and bike goals for the month but going to keep pushing. Getting a 2nd brick in with my race tomorrow so that should help

Made up for missing my ride earlier in the week today.  I biked about 40 miles and did lots of climbing.  I should be just about at my bike goal, so I'll have no problems making that.

My run goal may be more of a problem.  My knee is in kind of bad shape after the ride today.  I'm icing now and then going to stretch out my ITB and see if that helps.  But, I might be a little short on the running if it doesn't get better.

I did a 40 mile ride today. Windy again, but not as bad as last week. Beautiful weather otherwise.

The country that you ride in is SOOOOO beautiful....Just remember not to get too close to the Mason-Dixon line and get some Yankee on you....

The good news is my race isn't in the totals from Saturday so we're a little better off but we do need to do a lot of work this last few days. Plan on a good recovery run at some point today probably after some quality park time with my 3 year old. If anyone wants to read the gory details of my swim meltdown on Saturday here's my report link http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp...

The good news is it's made me more determined than every to conquer it for my next race. It also proved that pool swimming is nothing like OWS and it was a big mistake for a non swimmer like me not to try a few out before my race.

Wow, we had some serious slippage this week. No slacking Hipsters!

I was up early today for my 4 mile race. It was put on by the County Road Runner's club as part of their "low key" race series. There were at least 230 runners.

Wow, my pace was just insane! I've never run that fast over this distance. A PB for sure!

I looked down at my watch about half way into the first mile and it showed a sub 8min pace; I couldn't believe it, but my legs kept it going. I kept wondering when I'd hit the wall and start running like in training. I guess it didn't really happen until the last ALL UPHILL mile. That was hard!

  • Final time: 36:24
  • Pace: 9:04/mile
  • Finish position: 171

I don't know if they will post age group results.

Good fun!
