SSMinnow - 2009-06-14 11:05 AM RR is up for me.  Can't wait to read the others tonight!

Off to throw my best friends bridal shower.  I think I am too old to have to go to these anymore.  The good news is I ordered wine for the table! oh and pre cocktails on the terrace beforehand!  It's gotta be noon somewhere, right John?

Just read your RR Suzy and I can't believe those running times. I would gladly give up some time on my swims to you if you would lend me some of that running (and biking) speed.

Yeah we have quite a few murals on our walls.

So I had my first group ride with my racing team (seems like I am the only one that doesn't do road races, I joined to get some experience so I might actually be able to race)

Nice little 55 mile ride, thought I was a half way decent climber, there were 5 of us and after the first few hills I just peeled off and hung out in the back and watched them ride away.

On the tri-bike I try to maintain a consistent wattage level.  Say 200 watts, if I am going up hill, that means going slowly up the hill.  If I am going down the hill that means pushing it hard.  This was obviously the exact opposite way they all rode.  I accelerate through the flats to get some momentum going up the hill then gear down up the hill to find a decent cadence and pace.  They all went slowly through the flats then hammered the hills.  Since I was in the group I couldn't hammer the flats because there was always someone in front of me.

Definetly a sufferfest for me and probably an easy Sunday ride for them.

Good stuff though, very educational.  Will be going back next weekend for more punishment.

John, that is so funny....I have to laugh.  You should too, it's the best option :-)
My three never did any of that...but I do have a race track scratched into my stainless steel refrigerator (the boys raced cars on it so hard the scratches are too deep to buff out).   By the way, it's not a dinosaur - it is definitely a shark!

And hey, I thought we were giving up the biking mishaps.  Well, get them out of your system before the 28th!

gadgetlaw - 2009-06-13 9:52 PM I finished my Sprint this morning.  It was a lot of fun!  My parents ended up driving up to watch too.  It was cool to have them there!  I did ok.  I think I was a couple of minutes faster than last year - not a lot better, but a tiny little bit!  I am waiting for the official results to be posted.  I got so little sleep last night because of the dog (Yes, I love him dearly!!)
that I feel like I have been up for two days.  I am off to bed now, but I will post details tomorrow.

Karen

Great job!  Next time if the dog keeps you up make him race with you!

This is funny because he is a retired greyhound.  Every time I go to a race, I ask him if he wants to go.  Sometimes he can be bothered to lift his head of his pillow to look at me, most of the the time he just keeps sleeping!!!
I am still waiting for my official race results - what is taking so long???  So, today I was lazy and just went golfing.  I beat my Dad by 4 strokes!  That has never happened before!

I hope everyone enjoys Flag Day!  I know that I will enjoy it tomorrow, when I don't have to go to work. Tongue out   I think Flag Day is my favorite day to have off!!!!

yes, you know you've become a real triathlete when going to play golf is being lazy!  it's still 4 hours of trudging along and exerting yourself!   Nice job on your tri Karen!

I rode 49 miles today on a rolling course with some hills and did a 20 minute brick run afterwards, and this time, no cramping and HR stayed in Z2.  I am testing out nutrition as my race is 5 weeks out.  I think I hit on a good combination of Infinit through 2.5 hours with water and shot blocks every 15 miles...then water with gu about 5-10 minutes before T2.  (water only after 2.5 hrs)

Roni and Steve, you guys did so awesome in crazy weather conditions.  You earned the Half Ironman/Ironwoman titles for sure!

Hi all! Just a quick note to say THANK YOU!!! You were all out there with me yesterday and helped keep me going. Overall I'm happy with the race. As Steve has already said, there were really tough conditions out there, but I still got it done in a little under what I thought it would take me. I figured 7:30 and finished in 7:28, plus I learned a bunch! I'll get the RR done and catch up with you all tomorrow when I get back to Pasco. Thanks again!!!!

Team Numero Uno, I am sorry I didn't get my 5k in so I had to use the first half of my 10k at mooseman which wasn't stellar.

Here are the totals.  I didn't count your time if you didn't finish a segment.

Please feel free to touble check.

Not sure about you guys but I thought that was a lot of fun.

Speak for yourself. I have not felt 100% since I ran my 5K! I felt bad afterward and I have had respiratory issues since. Laughing I don't think I could beat my run time and not sure I want to (this year).

Seriously I am up for retrying later.

I really enjoyed following Steve and Roni in the IronmanBoise. While some people enjoy following the pros, it was much more fun and MUCH more inspirational to follow our MG members. Anything is possible! I hope I give as much support as I feel I get.

I need some help here.  Although I'm only supposed to do a 2 hour ride, I am thinking my riding partner might stretch it to the 2.5-3 hour area.  I know everyone is different, but what your thoughts on hydration.  I am in humid SC.  I plan to carry my aerobottle with water and a bottle of cyto.  My nutrition plan is a decent breakfast (riding at 7:45) and 3 gels to get me through.  Does this sound like enough fluids and / or calories?  I will carry a few bucks too just in case I need to stop at a store and grab something.  Thanks!

I typically can go for a 3 hr. ride on a couple water bottles and a few extra calories...couple of gels or a bar or banana or something.  I think you will be fine on calories, just make sure you have enough fluids.

So whats on tap for this week.

3 weeks until my marathon training plan starts.

Having my "A" race so early in the season is tough, hard to get motivated for the rest of my races until the Marathon starts.

No races until 6/28. This is a heavy training week before next weeks tapering. Trying to build up my swimming and working on bricks. It is weirdnow as I have 1 week hard, 1 week taper, race, 1 week hard, 1 week taper, then race again. That gets me to the end of 3 sprints and it will be time to focus on some Olympics. Be prepared for lots of questions.
