Brent, welcome to the South!

John, thanks for the invite; I wish I could take you up on it!  Too much going on right now, but have a couple for me.

Suzy, super training day!  If I wasn't dead by the end of that workout, I would be wishing I was.

Tony, I like the idea of the relay.  It'd be great to see what this group could put together.

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend!  Cheers to all those who are not.

SSMinnow - 2012-07-11 4:46 AM It might be early, but it's still Wednesday! I know of at least one of our favorite girls giving it her all this weekend, so who's planning to join her?  We want the details!

I'm not racing, blowing off a race to attend a big swim meet with my kids.

Good luck all racers.  Have fun out there!

Did a non-voluntary HR test tonight.

My 8 yr old was missing for about a half an hour.  Most of our street was out looking for her.  We were on the phone with the police when we finally found her.  Have to say it was the scarriest moment of my life.  And I don't think my HR has come down yet.

Will be holding/hugging her all night!

Question 1:

Do any of you bike somewhere, run, and then bike home?  If you do, how do you deal with the logistics of your "stuff":  running shoes/socks, nutrition.  Do you wear a backpack?, do you lock your bike while you're running?

I'm trying to keep most of my running off-road (for my sore achy feet), so it's making bricks hard to do logistically.  Right now I ride, hop in my car and drive to a park to run, but it makes it really difficult to get there in time to make it a "true" brick.

#2:

bike tire pressure--my tires recommended psi range is 100-145.  I've been filling them to 120psi for both training rides and races.  Should I be going higher on race day?

GO MG RACERS, GO!!!

For bike/run efforts I put all the crap in the car and drive to my start location.  When I am done with the biking, it goes in the car, I change into my run shorts with both car doors open so there is minimal exposure, graby my FB and go. Simple really.  Taking the time to drive back to your house wouldn't work as a true brick for me.

I keep my tires at 100psi.  If it is cooler in the morning and blistering hot by the time you get on your bike, I do NOT recommend pumping them up too high for fear of swelling of the tube.  One race I was at you could hear the pop of tubes exploding and the F bomb as people realized they needed to change their tubes i T1.

I do most bricks from home (but then I have the luxury of being able to run trails or road from my back door). Sometimes, though, like Suzy, I put the bike in the car, drive to a site, ride, then come back and toss bike in the car, change shoes and go. (I never use biking shorts, just tri shorts, and I run in those.) Lock door, carry key (refer to previous posts about key storage). Done.

I tend to pump my tires to 110 on average. I don't vary it much, I figure that covers me for most conditions.

I do (did) this too, and have a tarp in the back of the car to cover my bike.  No matter how safe of an area I am, I never really stop worrying that someone might bust into my car and steal my bike!

I say (did) because I have not done a single brick this year in training in an effort to preserve my foot.  I'll let y'all know how that goes.  A little nerves setting in today!

I think as long as you get started running within about 10 minutes, it's still a pretty good brick.  It sucks to ride from my house due to city traffic and stop signs, so I normally head out down Linda's way (not that far, though!).

I keep my tires at about 100-105 psi.  I used to have them at 90 or so, because I was a bit afraid of them popping, but ever since last summer, figuring out how to change them, etc, I have been going higher, and I feel like those extra 15 psi make a difference in how well I ride.  If you want to go higher, Jayne, try it out in training, remember, nothing new on race day!

No racing for me this weekend its dance recital time of year.  I will have some time to catch up on training which has been tough with 4 days of dance practice this week.

Good luck to all our MG racers: Kim, Melissa, Dan, David, George and Kris
