We had our first snow last night so about half of today's run was on a snow/ice combo - not too much ice so not too bad. I've hit 5 days in a row running now and am hoping to get out again tomorrow - all nice and slow (zone 2 on my HRM) and all about 3 miles.Have a great Friday! Way to go getting 5 runs in a row! Careful on the ice! Edited by kimk 2009-12-18 7:46 AM |

I was becoming really crabby so I slept in this morning. Maybe I'll make it up later in the month, but for now I'm just concentrating on feeling better. So here's a pickle: I've gained like 40 pounds since the last time I was running, so I've had to buy a lot of new running stuff. Which I don't want to spend a ton of money on, because I intend to not be this heavy for long. However, it is starting to get really cold outside in the mornings. Can anybody recommend a nice lightweight water/wind-resistant running jacket that DOESN'T cost a bundle? Glad you are starting to be on the mend. Good idea to concentrate on taking care of yourself. As far as clothes, Target has some decent stuff at a inexpensive price. I can layer with their tech stuff, and stay pretty comfortable. |

I was surprised to find it there, but I wear a short sleeve tech, long sleeve tech, and the Old Navy pullover in 20 degree weather just fine. Don't forget the hat though...45% of body heat is lost through the head! Some lose more hot air through the head than others though. |

Master 2429 Falls Church, Virginia | Subject: RE: Christmas Cookies - Du-December Challenge Okay, I'm snowbound. I think its somewhere between 8-10 inches out there, which shuts the DC metro area down. Still coming down at about .75" an hour. My 5k was canceled which I am really disappointed about. I got on the trainer, and maybe if they plow I'll get to run in some snow, but for now its all about staying inside with my huge amounts of cookies. My family cookie exchange was canceled, too, so now I'm in the house with a hungry boyfriend and 6 dozen cookies. Sounds like a fun day! |

Master 2429 Falls Church, Virginia | Subject: RE: Christmas Cookies - Du-December Challenge Come on, Cookies, let's get it together for the home stretch! I know we can do this. I've having some weather-related worries. If the roads aren't any better by Monday or Tuesday, I won't be able to make my run goal. I think I'll decide by Tuesday evening, but keep your fingers crossed, okay? |
