My wife and I will be happy to put you up for the weekend. Thank you for the offer. I'll be camping at the lake over the weekend and will put out a sign for the BT'ers to please stop in. It's hard to get around an unfamiliar area with unfamiliar people. I'ld like to get to know some of you all. I'm looking forward to a memorable weekend. |

Are there very many flat area's or smaller hills? Or is it pretty much all hills? It is all hills. It has been described as 'one of the hilliest 70.3 courses in the U.S." I have a converted road bike and I also live where it is mostly flat. I say ride what your most comfortable with if you have the choice. You may have the advantage being able to choose. I don't have that luxuary. Even though there's talk of three foot waves on the lake, and a hilly bike course, I can only hope my training pays off and no matter what forge ahead. I can't change the course but I can keep my attitude in check. So wheather I finish several hours under cut off or they roll the course up while I'm still out there, I am going to finish this NO MATTER WHAT! You all with me? We are all going to finish this thing! Go BT'ers! |

Extreme Veteran 732 Omaha, USA | Subject: RE: IM Kansas 70.3 Nice thread discussing the ability for specators to see the race. I would x2 what Mr2Tony said, my wife loves me, but she's not going to sit around for 6hrs only to see me 4 times. If they don't get something figured out, it's likely this race is going to struggle in the coming years. I want to do this race but I'd like to bring some supporters. http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp... |

Champion 34263 Chicago | Subject: RE: IM Kansas 70.3 Yeah I'm trying to stay calm over here but that really put a spur in my saddle. I too am debating whether to bring my aluminum roadie Cannondale R400 or my tri Felt S32, which is about 10 pounds lighter. I like the tri bike, of course, but having that third ring might make it just that much easier. Of course my hammies would be hammered but overall I think I'd have more energy. Thoughts? |

If you've been doing hill work without using the granny gear you'll be in good shape. As noted in previous posts, you probably don't have to get out of the saddle. I did just to get over the hump and give my arse a break. |

Yeah me too! I'm scheduled to do a 2-hour bike followed by a local half marathon in Omaha this weekend. FUN! If I survive this weekend, I'll be here in Chicago for Memorial Day weekend due to a flight-scheduling error so we should go then for sure!!! |

The more the merrier. No better practice then the hills you gotta ride in June. |

I think I'd need to head up the night before to make it work, which is a possibility. I'm going to put in some good rides around here the next 2 weekends, then re-evaluate . . . I'll have a better idea by the 26th . . . Thanks! |
