Unfortunate DNF for my first try at HIM. Swim went okay but I blew up on the bike and was borderline hypothermic on the bike according to the medic guys after getting off the bike. Purple arms and couldn't move my hands was soooo fun. Blew up at about 40 miles. Weather + having training issues with running my business = problems.

I'm bummed and keep rethinking what I could have done differently as I was 1 min after the bike cut off. First person cut. But considering there were a bunch of DNFs (have heard anywhere from 100-400) I'm okay with what I did.

I see some here kicked butt. GOOD JOB!

Doh, sorry to hear that.  I had thought about putting on a waterproof jersey for the bike, but in the end didn't because the the rain did not start until after I had started the bike.  Man don't be discourange about a DNF in those conditions.  The only thing you can do is bring a jersey if there is any chance of rain or something.  Get warm and just train for that next one.  It won't be like that every race day. Much love and respect!

Kudo's to you either way!! It was a really tough day out there given the conditions.  It was a major suffer fest.... The race will be there next year.  Go back and prove a point to that race!  Just hope for better weather !!!

I managed a 6:13 after my knee gave out on me during mile 9 on the run. I had 6 hours in my sight, but then had to walk a lot the last few miles.

Sorry about the knee, but glad you were able to finish given the conditions.  I hope you recover well.  I am sure you can nail that 6 hour next year with um dry roads!

Hi all, I ended up at 6:10 after the worst swim of my life. My daughter did 6:16. I was really proud of her.

Man that was a tough race I made it in 6:30:30, at mile 3 I buckeled my knee backwards and the rest of the run was walk a little run a little.
It was a lot of fun meeting you guys at dinner and thanks Jeff for putting that together.

Any ideas of pictures from the race? Don't see anything on the website. I know there are probably 1000s to sort through.

Per Ironman usual, www.asiphoto.com is the race photographer - they haven't posted the pics yet - you can sign up for an email alert when they're ready.  I'd expect they'll be up starting tomorrow.

Awsome bike pics, that is totally what it was like. 56 mile swim, 1.2 mile surf, 13.1 running broad puddle jump.
