I'm home now. If they don't fall of the pace too much more, they should be in within the next 30 min. They aren't going to be close to 5, more like 5:30 split.

How far from Tempe do you live and do you live out on the bike course?

I live about 5 miles from the bike turnaround in Fountain Hills. I'm 25 miles or so from Tempe.

Thanks for the updates Bryan.  So if ChrisM lost his chip I'm assuming they gave him another right out of the water.  Any chance we could figure his new # out?

I just talked to Marcy and she sounds great!  She said that she made it about a mile and that she was last in the water.  She was wheezing really bad and her chest was really tight.  She said that she was starting to get dizzy.  She said that she had planned to keep going until the cutoff, even though she knew that she wouldn't finish the swim, but when she started getting dizzy she let them bring her in.

She was able to get to the swim exit in time to see Steve and tell him quickly what happened.  She said the first couple of hours were rough but now whe is more motivated that ever and plans to kick a$$ the rest of the year.

She saw Steve after the first loop on the bike and said that he looked great.  She said he was pedaling with both legs which was great given his recent ITB problems.  They are headed sown now to try and see him on the third loop and will call me when she does so I can post.

The course not so much as it's too flat. The heat? You bet, it takes a while to become heat acclimated once you move here, but then you can handle it very well, your body becomes super efficient at cooling itself. And the mental part doesn't get you as much.

Running when it's 110 degrees does earn you a few stares from passing motorists!

Nobody's going to be able to get under 10 hours today. Conditions are too tough.

WOW:

Are you kidding?

RACETIME: 06:37

ERIKA CSOMOR (#53) hasn't just taken the lead ... she's running away from one of the world's best triathletes. The gap to * MICHELLIE JONES (#45) is 1:33.

Just got back from the bike course (I'm moving photos/disks around for ASI Photo today) and it is really windy out there. There are a fair amount of cones blown over and a lot of folks are sitting up and stretching and just doing some grim-faced grinding on the way out. People look like they're flying coming back, though... lots of smiles for the photographer, who's a bit past the turnaround point. I saw a fair number of ambulances moving up and down Beeline which isn't a good sign either... I hope everyone out there is doing the best they can to take care of themselves with the weather like this.

It seems a bit warmer today than it was last year, too.
