If it were just the way the weapon fired or the way someone used a weapon, it'd be one thing, but it was the script. The writers do pay attention to detail when they're writing the script and they wanted to make a point. It doesn't really matter that it doesn't match the scene. It matters that the media is colluding to intentionally confuse people to drum up support for a gun ban that is misplaced, and supported by people who are not educated on the firearms they want to ban?
Is it always intentional? IOW, are you saying that you believe that everything one sees on tv that is factually inaccurate is done so on purpose to advance some agenda? Or do you believe this deliberate attempt by the media to mislead is specific only to guns? So, for example, when you watch House, and he makes a diagnosis that is medically innacurate, or prescribes a medicine that would have no actual effect on the disease in question, is that the media's purposeful attempt to mislead the public about the medical profession? And if so, to what end? Do you think it is never intentional or agenda driven with firearms? Given a choice between: A) "The media is diabolically orchestrating a complex campaign whereby they deliberately use incorrect terminology and misuse technical information related to guns in a cunning attempt to confuse the American people, obfuscate the gun debate, and ultimately bring about the demise of the second amendment to the Constitution" And B) "The media is a fundamentally lazy entity that is driven entirely by profit and seeks to entertain the lowest common denominator of society in as rudimentary and cost-effective way possible." I choose "B". That's not to say that news outlets don't have their biases, but do I believe for one second that TriR's example was deliberate and agenda-driven? No. I do not. |

He's English. Actually they go over this in Dr No. He was originally issued a Beretta .25 (book) or .32 (movie). The silencer got caught up during the draw and Q ordered him to get issued a new firearm. He griped saying he'd never missed with the .25. Yeah, but it jammed once and sent him to the hospital because he ended up shot. They issued him a Walther in 7.65 (.32 ACP) "delivery like a brick through a plate glass window" Remember, this was written when .38 lead round nose was state of the art in the US. S&W Model 10 or Colt Police Positive, both of which Bond has also used. I'm just going off memory, probably off a point or two but this is one of the fun discussions at work |

Most of those people wouldn't know the business end of a gun if you pointed it at them. They get hung up on terms......"drive-by shooting", "assault weapon", "suicide by cop", blah, blah, blah. They look good on TV, but they aren't necessarily the sharpest tools in the shed when it comes to guns.

Here, quote a District Judge talking about MD's restrictive carry law: http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2012/03/05/md-gun-law-found-unconstit... U.S. District Judge Benson Everett Legg wrote. States can channel the way residents exercise their rights, but because Maryland’s goal was to minimize the number of firearms outside homes by limiting the privilege to those who could demonstrate “good reason,” it had turned into a rationing system, he wrote. “A citizen may not be required to offer a `good and substantial reason’ why he should be permitted to exercise his rights,” Legg wrote. “The right’s existence is all the reason he needs.” |

Could have been and my son this weekend as he was at the range shooting his 22. Of course it was a single shot camo painted rifle. Not the big black scary assault weapon pictured in the article. Glad to see the dad knew his rights and refused them entry to the home. |

Yeah, Jersey. Close to MD where a kid got suspended because he chewed a poptart into a block that he held and said "Bang" and close to the PA school where a little girl got suspended for TALKING about a Hello Kitty gun that blows bubbles she got as a present. |

And for the real reason, in the first 5 books, Bond carried a Beretta .25. Geoffrey Boothroyd wrote Fleming and complained that that really is a crappy gun and no man in their right mind would carry one. Boothroyd suggested the PPK. The real Boothroyd became Major Boothroyd, the MI6 armourer, in From Russia with love, who became Q. |

This question is more for the people who are for gun control I guess because I would like to hear someone who agrees with this. The complete mindless over reaction to ANYTHING bothers the hell out of me. Many times it's not the side of the argument you are on that bugs me, it's the lack of ANY common sense/thinking some people have to establish their opinion. I'll respect your opinion even if I don't agree with it if it's thought out. This is just like the kid getting suspended years ago because their mom packed a knife in their lunch bag to cut an apple or something. It's a complete reactionary, no common sense, hysterical overreaction based on some fear. This situation is over the line and nauseating. I'm 100% opposed to police and authority in MY home unless invited. If this give them reasonable suspicion to enter a house? Scary. I mean RAID the house? I'm even opposed to them being questioned, but I at least that would be a reasonable approach. Just go to the door and ask about. But to send people in? I see WAY too many way that could get out of hand in a hurry. Accidental shootings for starters. By police OR homeowners just thinking they are protecting themselves. |

Wow, insane. I'm not a gun owner (any more) but I've used to go shooting with the kids and our friends. We always took tons of pictures and there are still a few of their silhouette targets hanging in the basement. Since they are human-shaped, is that a now considered a threat? |

It's still open for debate in Congress. Speaking of that. Now that everyone's got their attention fully on the improved AWB, it's time to sneak in the universal background check with universal registration. Everyone's so relieved the big bad wolf is not coming it's a perfect time to break federal law and pretend they're not looking for registration by doing so. |
