My Varese is here! Now I need to have a LBS assemble her. What pedals and shoes do you have for your Varese's?

Just purchased the last Fara, 47cm. Should be in next week sometime. Dave & Jeff were great to deal with. Thanks Bear!! At 5'5" i was on the fence about the 47 vs. 51. Both Dave & Jeff said they would recommend the 47 because the top tube was 2cm shorter (52 vs. 54). I'm still a little nervous about the fit. Worst case, my wife will end up with a really nice bike

Just bought my first road bike, 55" Parma. Thanks Bear! Now I don't have to keep training on a 20 year old Huffy mountain bike that is a full size too small. At 220lb I was eventually going to get hurt on that stupid thing. It was probably less than $100 in 1988!

I read that these aren't coming with pedals... I'm poking around nashbar.com now but don't know enough about the options to know what to get. I know for now I'd like to keep costs down and upgrade a little later as I want to spend most of this summer just getting to know road biking before I actually try doing it in a competitive situation.

EDIT: to start, ended up buying these cage pedals and a couple toe clips to start.

Ugggh! Did I get the wrong size bike? I'm 5'4.5" with a 29" inseem, and was recommended the size 51 in the Varese with 650 wheels.

It's at my house now!

No, I think you'll be fine.  The sizing is totally different for the different bike geometries.  The tri bike Varese 51 has a 51cm seat tube and 51cm 51cm top tube.  The road bike Fara 47 has a 47cm seat tube, and a 52cm top tube.  The top tube is what's arguably most important, and they're practically the same for the two bikes, despite the different numbers on the size (which refer to the seat tubes, for some reason).

My wife decided TODAY, she wants a bike.  Has anyone been in contact with Dave or Geoff lately to know if there is anything left?

I know my sister just bought a 47 Garda, and her boyfriend and her boss also are purchasing Garda.

From what she told me, Garda and Vareses are available for sure (though not sure on what sizes are left), a couple of Parmas, Narnis and Faras look to be out of stock.

Your mileage may vary though, so give them a call

Thanks a lot, not real picky on which one as those prices are smoking.  Luckily we are close enough height wise that if she gets sick of riding I might be able to make it work for me

Ordered a 55cm Garda on April 9, it arrived on the 11th, took it to bike shop for assembly on the 12th and picked it up today.  I think the fit was pretty much right on.  The color is a really bright cobalt blue, but it doesn't transfer to the pics.  Here she is.

Yeah, Actually, as far as I can tell the 51 Fara is fine, but it is my first road bike so hard to say for sure.

I don't have that much step over room but I'm fairly flexible and I have my seat a bit forward. I've ridden as much as 2.5 hours on it w/o issues... I'm actually getting a bike fitting next week, so I'm hoping they will make sure it's set up right for me. The 47 might have been more technically correct, but I'm not having issues with it as far as I know, so I guess that's all that matters.

I'm sure you'll love it. I LOVE mine. I carried it up and down 2+ flights of steps to take it on the El (train) on Wednesday and it was laughably easy it's so damn light.

Thanks again.

Anybody know what sizes, if any are left of the Narni or the Varese?

Just got ahold of them and ordered a 51 Narni with 650 wheelset! Called the g/f to tell, she said "I thought we were going to talk about it!"... oops... I might be in the dog house for that one!

Sizing wise, I'm 5'8", 145 lbs, and ride a 54cm Trek 1500 roadbike, does a 51cm Narni sound about right? This is what Dave suggested, so I'm assuming that he knows what he's talking about based on the info I gave him...

Sounds right to me.  51cm Narni has a 51cm top tube, and most people need a few cm shorter top tube for a tri bike than a road bike because you've got your elbows by the head tube instead of your hands.  So, a 54 roadie --> 51cm sounds good.  Enjoy!!!!
