AHH! I'm getting so nervous. Five patients to go at work today, then I am DONE! Home to pack and leave tomorrow morning after a short workout.

This morning's 80 degree temp at 6 am and 95% humidity made me feel like death (once again) on my run. My heart rate is sky rocketing, and my pace is SLLOOOWWW. I hope to feel better come race day...hope this taper will work. Will the cool, fresh mountain air help??

Weather wise, I want those gentle rain showers to begin, oh, around 3 pm until 5 pm for the first portion of my run.

I am not getting anything done here at work except watching IM clips on youtube, looking at IM sight, doing last minute research on racing and posting on BT! haha. I have to work one more day (tmrw)

In case you are not glued to the webcam of the oval, http://www.whiteface.com/facilities/cams.php,in the last 24 hours there have been at least three tents put up.

That is all.  See you soon.  I'll be the one in black lycra with sunglasses on.

I'm doing the same thing as well. I haven't gotten much done at all this week.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before - i may have missed it. I am just getting to read through the athlete guide (while waiting to get our power reconnected) and noticed one slight change that I found of some interest. Last year the guide said "Special needs bags will not always be returned." This year it says "Special needs bags will NOT be available after the race. Do not place anything of value in your special needs bags as they will NOT be returned."

Last year we were able to pick up our SN bags after the race It appears that this year we will not. So much for putting my favorite diamond-encrusted Gucci gel flask in my run SN bag...

Not being able to focus on work, I found something other than the forum here at BT and the livecam on the Oval...I went out and bought a replacement battery for my HRM.

Sadly, I don't leave until Thursday morning and will have another day at the office of distraction.

Just arrived in LP,I was jealous watching the riders heading out as I drove by, can't wait to get out there Wed. It was 90 degrees when I rolled in, but T-storms in the afternoon have started to cool the place down. Feel sorry for any bikers out in that storm, tree limbs down everywhere. Travel safe everyone and there were lots of state troopers on I-87, so save the extra speed for Sun!

Last year they gave the atletes until the next morning to pore thru the boxes for their SNB. I guess they didn't want the cleanup this year, which is understandable. Yet, what about tires and tubes?? I know I will have an extra tube in my SNB in case I use the 2 I carry (hopefully not though) but I don't want to leave that 'of value' there along with a brand new $80 tire. Guess I am taping 3 tubes and a tire to my underseat.

also if anyone has access to West Coast Chill bring some for me for my SN run bag. It's an energy drink that contains a chill on demand button. so it chills when you open it. better than warm red bull. We don't have it here in NY

It's pouring rain at LP now, temps went fron 90 to 73 in an hour. For those of you watching the lake temp, I went out and collected a glass of rainwater and measured the temp. It was 70.347 degrees, so it's definitely cooling the lake!

Sorry if I missed it in a past post, but do we have a BT roll call for BT name, real name and race number for this year's race? I will be volunteering and cheering you all on and would love to give an extra big shout out to any BT athlete when you pass by.

So excited for you all. Actually had goose bumps reading the posts the last couple days as you have been making your final preparations.  I remember all the nervous energy in the last days right up to and including wading into Mirror Lake on Sunday morning. Funny thing was that once I was floating at the start line all of the nervousness went away. It was too late to worry about any of the should'ves, could'ves and would'ves. It was finally time to execute what we've been training for all of these months and to enjoy it.

Be safe, have fun, and kick some a$$.

because I'm bored (read-not training) I've looked at bike splits for the past several years...

if you plan to even split the bike, then you want to be at mile 31 to make 56 miles at about an even split-so the first 31 mile time should equal your last 25 mile time...if you're curious, check your watch at mile 31 if you want to know how you are doing regarding pacing and check it again at the end of the loop

and do it all again for an even split for 112 miles

good luck for those attempting this plan, I know I will try

TeamAndyBU - 2012-07-17 2:11 PM anyone check the weather lately :/

It's still looking okay for Sunday, right?? Now, slight chance of rain, slightly cooler (79-81), and possibly of rain at night. I'll take it if it stays that way!! No way to know what we'll really get.

Okay! Time to start PACKING! Hate this part...

I, personally, do not care if it s 90 or 60.  I do not care if it is windy or calm, rainy or not.

These are things that are outside of my control. Whatever the weather, I will adjust and modify my pace.

Do not let the WEATHER distract you from the task at hand. Focus on proper pacing/nutrition/hydration. These are the things in your control.

Execute your best race no matter the conditions. Account for it, adjust and execute.

Taper time just gives too much time to think...

I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed participating in this forum.  It has been so much fun to watch everyone's progress over the past 7 months or so.  I'm sorry that we have lost a few to injuries, but thankful that they have stayed around to encourage the rest of us.  This has been a great group!

I am packing up the car and finalizing all the last minutes to-do's.  My husband and I are pulling out at 5:00 am tomorrow morning.  I'm really looking forward to the 9:00 am practice swim on Friday and hope to meet many of you there!

I won't be on the forum much until post IM, so GOOD LUCK to you all!  Stay safe & enjoy every single moment of this IM experience ~ it will be over before you know it .

My boss just informed me that he needs me to meet with a customer Thursday. I will fly to Chicago tomorrow evening return to NY Thursday. I should be home by midnight Thursday and will leave first thing Friday am. Should be ok. Not ideal, but not the end of the world. Kevin

Probably one of my last posts. Thanks everyone for the great advice, inspiration, and knowledge! I am so glad I joined this board, such a great help

We will try to make the 9 am swim Friday! Our itinerary is a little complicated, but we will try none the less.

Good luck everybody!

Leaving tomorrow at noon!

Just found out my best man can't make the trip with me as his grandma just broke her back... kind of disappointing but I completely understand. He will be there in November for the wedding(he teaches in Haiti so it is kind of a trip...) so I guess that can make up for it!
