My Jogo today was my tri....The drive I made to/from San Francisco was a lot more like a workout though....seriously--Heavy traffic jams in multiple spots on a SATURDAY?!?! Annoying. It was a good day overall though. RR tomorrow, or sometime when I am not REALLY tired, chafed, or sunburnt...yep, tonight I am all of the above.

my heart, bongs and running, too.

I am quite sure I have a photo of a two-storey electric bong somewhere. My birthday may have been involved.

In other news, we survived the motorbike trip to the marathon and back. Sven barely survived the marathon. He's never been in such pain during a marathon, he says. Had it been anywhere but here with me at the finish line from the half, he would have quit. And the only reason he didn't is that he knew I was going to say, "I TOLD YOU SO!"

People think I'm stubborn?

I warned him about the Bali hills. I warned him about the oppressive, right-on-the-equator heat and humidity. I warned him about this course. I warned him about exactly how he needed to run it and that waiting until km25 to take water (regardless of his experience with hundreds of mary courses all over the world EXCEPT IN THE TROPICS YOU IDIOT and no Honolulu doesn't count) was a reaaaaaaally bad idea. But would he listen?

3:30, he says, 3:45 at the super outside. 4:20 (bong) at the finish line and I'm still tapping my foot ...

Spent the last hour or so catching up on pod doings.    Methinks I'm too exhausted to think clearly.   In addition to life guarding I am now also a Red Cross WSI.   I"m teaching littlies to adults.   Does teaching three hours of swim lessons a day five days a week count as JoGo?  No matter as I am thoroughly enjoying myself.     Met  a few of the local triathletes who train at the pool.    Most are just doing the local sprints and appreciate any pointers that I can give them.

Could someone tell what it is like to have a little free time to spend on myself?    I've forgotten.

Must find a current picture to post as my avatar.     I am so out of shape in that picture.

Cool     Excuse me whilst I take a power nap.   I have to tutor a couple of kids who are taking calculus one this afternoon.

My Father's Day trail run was interrupted by a lost Jeep key. ARGH!. So I ran home, had a sandwich and TW will drive me back to the park to get the Jeep. Good thing it is only a few miles from the house.

Surprise visit from DD2 makes this weekend A+ for sure. Enjoy whatever opportunities come your way today!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY (U.S., but y'all count) to all the wonderful fathers--of all varieties, including those of you who may not be quite sure ...

No, really ... it's because of father figures and role models like you that great strengths of good fathers are appreciated, and that your presence in our lives and societies help smooth over where our own fathers may have struggled.

First father's day without my dad--yes, we used to celebrate a bit, after all my folks met, married, spent nearly 20 years in the U.S. and the children were all born there.

It's amazing how today of all days, and here, where it is not Father's Day (we do have a different date for Parents' Day), SO MANY PEOPLE remembered my father's passing and offered their condolences again. Before and after the mary, and throughout the day. Wow.

Yanti-- I hope this Father's Day has been full of fond memories for you.  2 story electric bong?  Wow.  (Do you ever wonder if two sentences have ever been typed together before ever--like ever in the history of the world?  Kind of an interesting juxtaposition, no disrespect intended. Hugs.)

Jo--Your shirt is awesome.  It does kinda say look at my boobs, but your boobs do that all by themselves.  Work it girl.  I'm going to go look at your swimming video now, but, sadly, I suck too much to give any valid input.

Hate that feeling.

Wait--is it Chris? Dan? What do you prefer?  Did I just imagine the "Dan" thing? Ack!

My name is Elesa--pronounced like Lisa, but with a long E in the front, not that pronunciation really matters ;P

Is it ambitious?  Shows you how much I know.  Ignorance is bliss.

I am still recovering from an "over reaching" (not as bad as being over trained, but still pretty sucky)  period in February and some really low iron, so I'm trying to be a good girl and be patient, but my run times still aren't where they were in January :/

Thank you for the suggestion about the group (pod?).  You guys are great!

Chris it is. I'm not sure who Dan is, but I'm starting to wonder if your hubby should worry

Many groups of animals have certain names, ie, Pride of lions, Gaggle of geese, Pod of manatees. Thus the Pod reference.

Chris!  I am so sorry.  I don't know why I got that so messed up.  (I dreamed it?) My husband should definitely worry about my brain, but not about any dude named Dan.

Really sorry about that.

---------

And Ben, that Master's practice sounds brutally yucky.

There is no problem for me at all. I have been called way worse than Dan

Bizarrely I thought he was Dan for an age and as for Elesa you are just Switch to me, sorry!

TJ - Oceanside... you don't say...

Kirsten - I'm so sorry about the stuff getting stolen.  I remember there being a rash of thefts in Vancouver of the copper wiring from various things to be able to sell as scrap metal - I can only hope that karma will come back to bite them where the sun don't shine.  You also TOTALLY made me smile with chuffed!  It was used so often when I was living in London and I hardly get to hear it anymore!  Were you equally 'gutted' to realize that you'd mounted the tire backwards?

And on the HOLY CRAP I'M FREAKIN' EXCITED front... I just finished buying our plane tickets to Vancouver for Xmas!!!  WOOT!

Gonna have a go at that today!  Inspires are beyond this browser.

Welcome to the pod Monica and Elesa.

Great job to all the racing Manatees. I hope that you had heaps of fun. Yanti I also hope that you are getting some rest (at least mentally) at the funny farm. Give all those creatures of yours a melon press from me.

The wheels kinda fell off my running and my JOGO a bit at the end of last weekend DH has to have knee surgery this week so that might be a couple more days where I miss my planned workout too. Thankfully he isn't the kind of guy that complains and thinks he's dying when he gets sick so it should be ok.

Gotta go I'm late for work again (this seems to have become a common thing since I joined the pod)!

And to add on, here's mine:

Mine was non-hilly, and didn't suck, it was just 'meh'---but I did take 3rd in my group (Athena)...though I was 105 out of 110

Good evening (morning) all!

We're in San Antonio this evening. I have my Retul bike fitting tomorrow morning. Smile Then hubby and I head up to Austin for the rest of the week while the kids stay here with Grandpa John. Woohoo!!

I got my jogo in this evening. For a while today, I thought I was going to have to log my "nap." Embarassed

I hope to be busy in Austin this week riding, doing a little running, going to museums, shopping, and maybe taking in a movie or two that my husband would rather not suffer through. ("Great Gatsby," I hear you calling my name, if only you are still playing somewhere.)

Tragedy and triumph at the Funny Farm. Jahe kitty has disappeared the Hobbit Maid is inconsolable and I feel terrible. It always comes back to whether we're going to have indoor cats (for Indonesian street cats, no matter how many toys/training/attention/scratching things/structures you give them, this makes them terribly unhappy and they'll destroy your house ... I don't know what people with exotics like Savannah cats in the U.S. do) ... they wander and have a territory.

Ours are all rescues so it's do we leave them on the street to have likely a very short and nasty life, or do we take them in and they have a medium and very happy life, probably with a quick end? Sometimes they "adopt" other families, too.

Anyway.

The Hobbit Maid "somehow" found two new likely orphaned fleabags to rescue--they were huddled on the side of the street, mewling, and had been for a couple days, so today on her way to my house from hers she grabbed them and put them in her purse and triumphantly dumped them out at my feet. "Look!" she said. "Don't you like them?"

"No. They are skinny ugly weak little fleabag aliens."

"Great! I'll put them in the spare room!"

While perhaps I should stop naming my cats prophetically--as in Suicide and Dogbait--or after things that get eaten, as in Biscuits and Jahe (ginger in Indonesian), their names came to me right away.

Fleabag 1 closer to the camera that has white apron and paws is ... ahem ... Salty.

Fleabag 2 that's all gray and black is Pepa.

Good day everyone. I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend, and the Father's Day and the racing, for those that it applies to. I had to update my avi to be the best father I know, with my two girls from nearly 20 years ago.

Yanti, your new additions look as though they'll fit right in.

Felicia, I hope you enjoy the fitting, the week of kid free time, Austin, and whatever napping you may do.

My words for the week come from Winston Churchill: "We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give."
