TrevorC - 2010-02-04 3:52 AM Been MIA for a few days so here is my catch up....

Happychick- welcome to the mainland again...The 70.3 you were talking about? Lake Stevens??

I'm not there yet...we will be moving May 1 but yes, Lake Stevens is the 70.3 I'm talking about.  So long as I can keep up on my training and things go well with the move/house hunting, I'm hoping to do it.  My hubby thinks I might be pushing it but we'll see!
I'll be there! Hope you like hills... there aren't many flat spots on the course. The swim is great because of the submerged buoy line; no need to sight, just look down and follow the rope! Birdy is right, though: you're practically in Canada. I think Lynden is about 3 or 4 miles from the border, and Bellevue/Seattle is 2 hours south. If you ever want to take a tour of the Lake Stevens course, let me know!

I might take you up on that offer! I'd like to do the race this year, but it's going to depend on when my parents take my kids for their annual Grandparent Camp (translation: hubby's and my annual SCUBA trip!). That weekend may be a travel weekend to get the kids to Truckee, CA, but I've let the fam know that I'd love to do the race, so we'll see. Whether or not I race it, I'd love to ride the course sometime, but I am not yet as fast on hills as I'd like to be (is it OK to say that? I was going to say I'm really slow on hills but was afraid of Suzy's TWHACK, so I tried to put a better spin on it, so to speak!)!!

So sorry about your friend.  That's heart breaking and I wish him and his family all the best.  How scary.  Any chance you'd send the request to Chrissie again?  From everything I've heard about her that sounds out of character.

ready....serious question from me today...

So this is my off-week for the month.....slowing down the training, this week and ramping up again next week.

Today is technically scheduled to be an off-day for me.
My coach had me do a 1000m timetrial on Wednesday. I did it, but was boxed in my lane as I swam at a very busy time. So my time wasnt necessarily reflective of an actual 1000m TT. So, should I reswim it today at lunch? Or just move on, it is what it is.

move on.  an off day i just that.  off.  in the grand scheme of this this workout isn't going to mean much.  and you did do it, just not to the level you wanted.  park your butt on the couch.

and i'm sure you're gonna do this but remember next time when you have this type of workout scheduled to pick a different time of day to do it.

I have asked myself the same question when I don't feel I have done as well on a TT or track test.  I agree with the gang, be a rock in a river and let it flow over you.....take the rest day and come back with the beast mentality on Monday!

TRAINING QUESTION FOR EVERYONE:

When I initially chose a training program it was with Lonestar in mind - 20 weeks away. So, I picked the 20 week sprint training program and that is what I've been training to (maybe a little overtraining, actually). 8 weeks later I really like the progress I'm making so I signed-up for an indoor mini-sprint (300m swim, 8 mi bike, 2 mi run) at the local Y. It's one month away, 12 weeks after starting training, or roughly 8 weeks before I'm finished with the 20 week training program.

My question is: Do I need to taper for this mini-sprint? If so, how far in advance? What would be a good level of training during this taper? I really don't want to change training programs because I really am looking forward to doing a full sprint at the end of April. Any suggestions?
