I kinda knew about the Warrior one as they had asked me for a full list of the races I had done. The other one was a complete surprise and not expected at all!
Nice job Arend!! |

Elite 3779 Ontario | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia Season II - OPEN On Sunday I did a 30min run threshold test. I had it in my head that I wanted/needed to run 4min/km pace - reason being I've decided to do a HM March 2 with the goal of going sub 1:30. I reckoned that in order for that to be realistic, I would need to be able to manage a 4min pace for this test (ran it at the track). Started off much slower than I wanted (4:11), but managed to pick up the pace every subsequent km, till I hit 3:50min/km for the last 500M. Anyway, managed an average pace of 4:01min/km on a bit of a chilly day, and my HR Threshold showed that it's down just a couple of beats since my last test - 5 years ago...I also figured that if it was warmer out I may have been able to push just a little faster over the first couple of km. Either way happy with how it went. |

Subject: RE: SBR Utopia Season II - OPEN Thanks all for the comments re the injury and running. Sometimes when you're "in" it's hard to see the other side. Even if you've been through this a number of times already I think my 2014 goal is to not have some sort of foot injury in December. Seems to be a pattern last couple years |

Champion 6656 | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia Season II - OPEN Hi all. Ive been MIA for awhile...last 2 months of rotations have been a bit tough to get much done training wise but Shane has been dealing with my call schedule. I just returned to the winter hinderland from Florida where I was doing a trauma course. Before that I was basically on 1:2 call for three weeks because of some other courses I was trying to get done. I've decided to cut back on my distances this year..just too busy for HIM/IM. So right now 5-10ks are the plan and Alcatraz in June!! Wooo |

Start tris in March and race until October (heck, even December....). And use the winter to race half marys etc. Never really give myself an 'offseason' where things are unstructured for a while. It does start to add up I guess and then we pay the price |

Extreme Veteran 5722 | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia Season II - OPEN Originally posted by Fred D I have two exciting things to post to the group as well! First, I was at my daughters swim meet this weekend and actually saw Mike Gadzinski (Gadzooks on this site, top elite AG triathlete) as his daughter was swimming as well. My 8 yo, Kate, swam really well, putting down a 52s 50 free. My 11yo swam in 8 events over 2 days. All impressive results for her with PRs in 7/8 events. **BRAG MOMENT** Megan swam the 200 IM in 3:06 and the 100 IM in 1:24. Just so pleased with her progress as she dropped 30s off her 200 time. She is not at the FFOP yet, but it's truly one of the most enjoyable things I have ever experienced watching her commit to swimming, then put the work in, and THEN succeed! I think good life lessons are being learned right now! Lastly, I have am very fortunate to have been selected to the TEAM Zoot. There are 9 of us on the team representing central PA, Philadelphia and part of NJ, so I'm very honored to be accepted. It is not based exclusively on speed, for if it were I would not make it on that alone, but also based on presence in the tri community. I hope to be a good brand ambassador, and NO, don't worry I won't push Zoot products on you folks ;-). Truly I am excited for 2014 as I will be working with a coach (Shane who most of you know very well) and be on a really cool team.... With all of this I am hoping that it REGENERATES my excitement for the sport.... So far it is! Typing all of this from the iPad at a very long and boring medical staff meeting btw lol. Congrats to the Doucette Fishies. Congrats on the Zoot nominaton. Not that I think you aren't good at multitasking, but please don't try the ipad thing during surgery. |

I just use 10% for that because it's easier. One way is actually a bit closer to 9% and the other is closer to 11%. Good enough to shorthand though. |

Subject: RE: SBR Utopia Season II - OPEN Fred, great news on both fronts. That is so cool to watch your daughters excel like that. I'll disclose that I threw my hat into the ring for zoot. I knew it was a long shot as I've no results to my name as an average AGer, and honestly felt a little silly after I pushed submit, but alas, I will be racing as an independent in 2014 yet again! And the coaching news is quite good as well! Edited by ChrisM 2013-12-10 6:40 PM |

Chris, I was watching the video you posted on ST about the draft pack at Whistler. If you go to the 2:12 mark, is that you in the background? Ha, I've looked in bits and pieces, but yep. Good eye. And appropriately, right when Rhodesy says "that's the beauty of ironman" and the camera goes to me. |

Subject: RE: SBR Utopia Season II - OPEN Congrats with your dautghters Fred. You seem really proud and you should be. Congrats on getting onto the Zoot team as well. It's pretty clear that your role in triathlons is so much more than yourself, and you should be a great ambassador for them. Team Refuel extended an offer to all their existing 2013 members to continue into 2014. I didn't get in through the traditional method of applying (late add on when I got into Kona), but I was on the email list so I filled out the application anyway. Funny because the membership comes with a free entry into an Ironman (specifically Ironman and not 70.3), but no IMs on the schedule for me. I'd be happy if they gave me a new cycling kit. |
