I had a decent bike workout yesterday. My family and I went to the beach so I tried to get some swimming in but it didn't work out like that. I ended up swalling half of the water in Alum Creek. I got about 400 yards in and it was a good workout. Then my daughter yelled for me to swim with her so I of course did that lol I can't say no to that little girl.

I went for the bike ride in the afternoon and it was pretty hot. I ended up with an awesome sun burn (which includes a watch line and an arm band line). 18.3 miles in 1:10:00 so it was a little faster. I went through two bottles of water lol

Plainsman AU - 2010-05-30 11:04 AM I got a freaking hilarious story to share from swimming this morning.

We are up at the lake house, and last night we were having a few adult beverages with the neighbor and talking about my swimming.  As we were talking we thought about the possiblities of tying a bait behind me and "trolling" while I was swimming.

This morning I got up at the crack of dawn and the lake was slick as glass, so I proceeded to take a neoprene band and tie it around my ankle with 25' of 10 # test and a shad rap tied to the end.

I swam around 12 - 1500 yards around our cove then headed out to the big water around an island, and when i cleared the island heading across the big water again back to the house...not even thinking about the lure anymore, a fish hit hard...scared the crap out of me.  As I pulled up and tried to grab the line as the fish was tugging on my ankle, it broke the line and was gone.

I think I am on to something here....swimtrolling.

ROFL, quite a few adult beverages I assume.

I'm resting tomorrow, so thought I'd be the first to throw 'em up here. Looking at my YTD totals, I'm 3 miles shy of 100 miles/month average on the run. If I hadn't already showered and was sitting here comfy in my fleece, I might have gone out and run 3 more just to get there... but alas, fleece wins.

May's totals:
Bike:38h 10m 46s  - 581.68 Mi
Run:20h 21m 32s  - 128.61 Mi
Swim:8h 40m  - 30100 Yd

Beer and clamato is a big thing up here. Lots of people like it.
I miss the Key-line yogurt and chocolate mousse too!!

Here my RR--- If was friggin' snowing!!! ON May 29th it was snowing!!! They enede up cancelling the bike. Which was smart. It was crazy. After sitting around for over 2hrs, i jumped in and swam 750m in 13:5x. Then a quick 5 or 6 minute T1 to get out of the wet suit and into some warm running clothes to knock out a 5k in 28 minutes. I was soooo not into the run.\
then I had to put the wet suit back on to jump into the pool with girls. They had a blast.
They swam one length of the pool then hit the strippers(Michelle& her mom) got them into warm clothes for them to run
~~200m. They got their medals and they were happy.
They got their pics taken for the local paper in the small town where the race was. So once I get some pics I'll have to post.
I'll catch up with all the posts tonight.

Yeah, I am also sun burnt pretty bad. I got too excited and forgot to get my arms w/ some spf protection. This week was crazy busy, I am just glad to get out and get some training in. 91 for us today, went out to my parents so my daughter could enjoy the blow up pool (I ended up playing with her in it and also running through the sprinker lol). I have also realized that I am so white it looks like I am wearing long john's when I am in shorts w/ no shirt.

Snowing?!   94 degrees?!  wow, guys - time to move to CA!  Did have wind yesterday, but the high was 83, and today's was 85.  Nice......

Happy with the ride, although pretty darn tired.  Drank a 9-scoop bottle of Sustained Energy and had 2 Gus and a Slam.  Gonna try adding in some more SE and maybe a cliff bar next weekend.

Today's run was perfect condition wise - 6:30 am, probably about 65 degrees and blue sky.  My feet, however, hurt.  Lots of sore spots and blisters.....trying to decide how to fix this before CdA.  Ran 14.5, showered and drove 3 hours to my niece's grad party - can you say 'stiff'?

Tomorrow's a swim day, so I'll post my miles then.

Happy Memorial Day, all!  Hope it's a great weekend and warms up/cools down for all!

Starting to look like I may be in Calgary July 14-17.  Hubby's working, I getta to come along to play.  Don't know what days are busy or not - but does anyone have suggests for what we may enjoy, and what I could do solo when he's working?  We're staying downtown at the Marriott, and he has to go to a Stampede party Friday night that I probably can't get into.

Share with me, people!!!

It also sounds like I need to get my weather requests in early.  No snow, please.

Hi All..... Had a chance to read the last few pages of the MG and it looks like everyone has been training hard and having some fun....

Linda--really good job on that ride, especially the climbs!  I agree with Kyla, give us some details so us IM'ers can learn from you...especially nutrition and hydration.

Trev-only you would be doing a tri in the snow....I would say it is great practice, but that would make no sense.  Nice job on getting it done!

We've had a good weekend thus far....today is another beautiful day in Northern WI.  The water temps are now mid 70s which is unheard of this time of year.  Plan to do another OWS and have Paul next to me in our new kayak.  Then off for a brick bike...reality will set in later tonight when we head home.

Results this month....biggest run month in a long time....

May's totals:
Bike:30h 40m 25s  - 535.15 Mi
Run:16h 47m 02s  - 116.68 Mi
Swim:16h 35m 25s  - 39660 Yd
Strength:3h 00m

Make it a great Memorial Day!

Well after cleaning my bike on Saturday it looked great. I didn't make out quite so well on putting my tires back onto my wheels. I blew out two tubes before I got it right. Good thing I had a couple of extras. Now I have to hit the LBS to get some more tubes.

I was going to wait until Suzy's Wednesday quote but I am really excited about my first race of the year coming up on Saturday It's just a short sprint but I seem to have been waiting FOREVER to race this year.

Good daddy day for me today.

Took my son out yesterday with his bike, took the pedals off and let him work on his balance in an empty parking lot, he got the point where he could go across the whole thing turning without putting his feet down.

Today we went to a tennis court that was being re-covered so there were no nets or posts up.  Put the pedals back on, pushed him a bit then let go and off he went.

he rode around for a bit got his bearings, figured out how to steer.  About 15 minutes in he decided to "race" his sister.

He won but didn't stop when he got to the end of the tennis court, there was about a foot drop off and he went over the handle bars onto the ground, hopped back up and said "I'm ok", "Daddy that was awesome"  We high fived, I told him Daddy has done that many times on his mountain bike, but it isn't something we should try to do.

Loaded up went to meet Sam at a park so I could get my Virtual Tri TT in (BTW Girls, the Boys overall time is about 7 minutes faster than yours...)

I did my TT, finished up the ride and had to do a nice easy run, he then rode along side me while I ran.  He told me he just needs to finish up his swimming and he's ready to race.

Hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day.
