Well, I have some bad news.

I tried running this past Fri.  I was at 2 miles, doing an 8:50/mile pace, and then *WHAM*, major inflammatory and arthritic pain occurred in my right hip and leg joint.  I could barely walk.  For the next 40 minutes I had to hobble the 2 miles back to home.

I'm sorry to say that it looks like I won't be running the 1/2 marathon at the beginning of November and I'll be dropping out of this challenge since I won't meet that goal now.  Walking has been a challenge of its own.  Sleeping has been rough, too.  Nothing but rest for the time being.

To the rest of you, peeps, keep up the great work and meet those goals!

<--- Unhappy face.

Ow. It hurts to just read that. Are you going to get it checked out?

Scheduled to run 8 today. I did 9. I was feeling good, and although I had mapped the route ahead of time, I couldn't remember where I was supposed to go for sure, so I ended up going long. It was a nice run -- pretty rainy when I started, but mostly just drizzle throughout. I thought a lot about the runners yesterday at Kona while I was running today.

I had planned a water stop at about 4 miles, only to find that the bathroom was locked and the water fountain wasn't working. Fortunately, I still had 15 minutes to get to the grocery store before it closed. I was only a little nervous. lol

Got in my run today as part of a brick...  I forgot how tight calves feel when coming off the bike...  Nice run though - I felt pretty good!

Nice job  - I got a question for you since we are both working on this 3-2-1 plan.  Do you use the short run or the medium run for your brick workouts?

Doesn't sound good, hope you can figure what is causing the pain.

I am mixing a bit of biking in, when I do a brick, its the recovery run.    For me its a run focus period, but beginning in middle of NOV, it will be very hard riding and hopefully similar run frequency.    No swimming for till March.

That's kinda what I figured, but I have "issues" running recovery slow when my HR is already jacked up from cycling.  I just need to focus on slow and smooth I guess...

Oh, gosh, so sorry to hear that! What a bummer. Take good care of yourself so you can get back in action real soon.

As for me, I actually got in a 10K run on the hotel treadmill on Sunday. Really proud of myself! I had to kick my own butt out of bed to do it.

Training runs with my half-a-thon relay team this week, and the half-a-thon this weekend.

GO, CANADA AND THE WORLD!!!

If you have too, just add walk breaks on your recover runs.   You may want to want 4-5 minutes after the bike ride to get your HR down then jog very slowly.

I was excited that I had accomplished 25% of my goal...until I realized we were 30% through the month.  There might be a few 1-2 mile runs tucked in toward the end of the month.   I have been wanting to avoid my running shoes and this challenge sure helps!
