I suppose everyone's different, and has different reasons for why they gained weight. For me, I know what put on the weight is cheese and post-dinner snacking without regard to portion sizes. I've been limiting my cheese to an ounce a day, and my post-dinner snack is 100 calories, typically fruit or maybe a couple squares of chocolate. I didn't grow up on bread so processed carb stuff wasn't my enemy. Different triggers, different "diets".

skipg - 2013-02-02 6:03 AM When did this paleo diet become all the rage? Don't know much about it but isn't is basically a low carb diet minus the cheese and processed low carb foods.

Nothing processed and no sugar, wheat, grains, rice, beans, or dairy. Some Paleos will eat some dairy and honey.

Personally Paleo makes sense for me as I have not eaten cheese since 1996.  Too many grains, beans or rice rice throws my acid reflux into a tailspin.  Last night (date #2!) there were some beans with the dish and I ate them...tasted great at the time, but my gut is not happy today, probably only had a few spoons of them.

133 today!  Down 3 pounds since we started.....please let this be the tipping point of getting down.  Here's today's pic...yes I DO NOT have a stick figure structure.  Darn muscly quads.

Darn sexy quads!  Oh... and the rest of you, too.  I said it before: you should be glad I'm married.  I'd totally stalk you.  ;-)

As for me, I did the scale thing today.  I dunno how, but I'm sitting at 241 in full uniform.  I'll post tomorrow what I weigh sans heavy clothing.

You crack me up!  Thank you!

Not so good on the diet tonight, its restaurant week and we went to sigler's rotisserie tonight. Prime rib, mashed potatoes, she crab soup, fresh green beans and a mini chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream

Oh....and a whole bottle of wine!

28 day burpee challenge starts tomorrow. I decided I like starting things on Sunday. So tomorrow it begins. Took pics today of what I hope is a noticable "before" picture. Will post later, can't from the phone.

Hope everyone is well. Also scale was evil this Friday. Up 2 to 208, hunting weekend caught up with me for sure, and life getting in the way of my training.

You crack me up!  Thank you!

You're welcome.  All we have to do now is find you a camera that takes higher resolution pics, and we're set!!  LOL

On a different note, I'm noticing I'm losing some flexibility.  It's beginning to cause me some issues while training, especially on my runs.  Since I have 17 weeks until my next race (wanna see a countdown?), I'm going to start dispersing some yoga into my routine, along with SBR.  The coming weeks will focus on the S more than the B and R.  Hopefully, the yoga will help me recenter my thoughts and focus, purge some negative energies, and help me obliterate the swim.  If I can destroy that, the other 2 legs have no hope.  I WILL podium this race!!!

Subject: RE: DOWN for 2013 - New Year New You!
Hmmm. I've been eating generally modified paleo, but during my long run today I got the weirdest craving. I needed to have a peanut butter & jelly sandwich. NEEDED. Only thing that got me through the last couple miles was the thought that I was going to have a PBJ, gosh darnit. (Of course my daughters had icky jelly open, so I had PB & honey.)

So. Grain (multigrain flats). Legumes (smart balance PB). And honey (honey). I guess honey is maybe better than jelly - and the bread and PB were as healthy as they could be...but seriously.

I have never craved grain before. I'm hoping this isn't going to be a trend.

Abby, so you do just fruit, veggies, nuts and meats. If your body likes that it sounds very healthy. I have finally admitted that vegan is never going to be for me I need chicken and fish, but am keeping the fruit and veggies high and definitely not going back to processed food -thats is a good thing for everyone.

I blamed my three weeks of juicing for cramps and killer runs, but I was wrong. I've had this stomach thing for days now. It's really grinding my into the ground. Makes me want to get back to juicing when I can.

Didn't let it keep me from the gym. Just starting to workout so nothing I can't do while sick.

Little jogging, some stationary bike - really happy to be back on track.

A curse upon you Superbowl, and a curse upon you Four Roses Single Barrell whiskey.  The combination of you two have put me firmly behind the 8 ball this week already.

Needless to say smart eating wasn't high priority last night and a pounding head made me opt out of my morning run.

Focus "Daniel San"

Sorry I also caught bits and pieces of a Karate Kid Marathon on G4 this weekend.

Back to the grind.

Before pick of my self imposed 4 week Burpee Challenge.  The most impressive part of this picture is the fact that I wrote Day 1 backwards so it would look correct in the mirror.

I weighed in today instead of Friday because its my birthday.... 139 lbs, up 2 from my last weighin 10 days ago but the first time in probably 30 years that I've been under 140 lbs on my birthday.  Goal for next year is to be under 130.
