if you haven't been around for a week or so and you're registered for a triple t on the easy course in NC, as opposed to the hard hilly course in Ohio, then you must switch races to a 70.3 in georgia before you post here again.  got it.

thanks.

do you guys still pound a beer then slam the mug upside down on the bar while yelling at the top of your lungs "the queens a bloody whor.e?"  or were those locals just screwing with us over in nova scotia?   either way it was fun.  :-)

AWESOME! don't know it was them or not but that is just AWESOME!

i was a cadet on a ship that broke broke down several hundred miles east of nova scotia in 97'.  got towed in to sydney and tore that place up, literally in some instances, for 9 days.  i think we boosted their economy for a year in those 9 days.  looneys and tooneys.  ha.  most of the town was out on the dock when we pulled in waving and all that jazz.  when we left it was only a few and they were waving, one finger only.  amazing part of the world.

LOL, is it bad we are sitting around chatting in the forums while watching the olympics?

Sam and I are actually sitting around trying to plan out all our races this year.

More details about the "combination run/swim journey," please...

Torn on the Olympics. They started here when Thing 2 goes to bed. Thing 1 still up, but we have made the Executive Decision to Delay All Olympic Opening-Ceremony-Watching until the whole family is together. It's  kinda buggin' me, tho... It's even harder when there are real events on to watch. At least they are happening in my time zone, but it can be hard to delay watching by one night over and over again so the kids can join in. Arrrrgh. I think I'm the die-hard Olympic-watching addict of the family, so maybe it will just end up me mostly solo every night, and let the kids pick and choose their events whenever. Clearly I'm over-thinking this and need to find some better way to use my time until I get to make my brownie sundae dessert...

Our Olympics started an hour ago so tell me about tape delays!  We decided to eat in the condo tonight to watch the opening ceremonies.  I dunno.  I love the Olympics, but the open and closing, ah...just ok.  Bring on Appollo tomorrow! And what's up with the snow boarding women?  The blondes live up to their reputations!  ANd yes, I am sure this was an awful statement.

tahrens - 2010-02-12 9:44 AM Since I seem to have landed in the black hole of training, I'll brag on my hubby for a while.  He is 2 weeks into his coach's plan for his first 1/2IM and is loving every minute of it.  He ran 8 miles this morning in 30 degree weather and came in afterwards with a smile on his face.  Now he can officially kick my butt in all 3 disciplines.

Janet - congratulations on the swimming. You have been working on your swimming for a long time.  Glad to see it is coming together for you.  Keep up the hard work.

Michelle - go get 'em!

Steve - your attitude is inspiring.  Way to stay positive.  Don't push the recovery too fast though.  Augusta is a long way off.  WE ALL WANT TO SEE YOU THERE RACING!!!

That's OK Sugar. He can then beat you home clena the house and having dinner waiting for you when you get there

Thanks for this Doug.  I just sent them an email to see if they would ship it to this side of the world.  I think a CT might be my next investment.

I just caught the luge accident on Sports Center and what a horrible crash. The guy flipped over the edge of the track doing upwards of 100mph and hit a cement pillar. The only saving grace is that he must have died immediately.

We are heading downtown in a few hours. They have a Olympic party happening in calgary and a few other major canadian cities today. Our girls are so captivated by the Olympics. So this is the closest we are going to get to them.
A few guys from wokr have tix to some events, but the cost of getting there/staying there is crazy. TV will have to do.
Kyla you're pretty close to Vcr. arent you?

Yes, about 2 hours... Have contemplated picking up the kids and heading north (they don't have school next week!), but obv. don't have places to stay and border crossings are rumored to be pretty lengthy time-wise. Not to mention the expense. It's tempting to pull out my "I Need a Miracle" Grateful Dead karma, hold up 3 fingers, and see what happens!!

Now that I think about it, a childhood friend's younger brother (he was 5-6 when we were carousing in high school) lives up there, and we're FB friends. Maybe I should see if he wants visitors?! LOL!

I'm pleased to say my swim training has been going very well, I'm averaging 2x a week, 2300 yds each session, and am feeling great.

Had a nice breakthru in my stroke/kick/timing this week, and was able to do several 100s at 1:30 - 1:40 per, instead of my typical 1:50 - 2:00 / 100.  Best part was the feeling that it was "less" work or easier ... just slipping thru the water.  For me this is huge, and I can't wait to feel it in a wetsuit!

There's something to be said about a two-beat kick  - take a look:
